There is a wonderful phenomenon in the animation world: voice actors and their characters "bump in the face".

Coincidence or necessity? Is it directly designed according to the actor's appearance? It's impossible to find an actor by animation!
Today, I will take stock of these voice actors who "look like" characters, and let's uncover this little mystery together.
Jason Bateman – Nick Fox in Zootopia
Jason Bateman is a cute little fox.
Robin Williams – Elf Aladdin (1992)
The animators incorporated many of Robin Williams' expressions into it, and the genie even performed some of his stand-up comedies.
Will Smith – Oscar for "The Shark Gang"
In fact, many of the Shark Gangster casts resemble the characters they voice, such as Angelina Jolie, Martin Scorsese, and Robert De Niro:
john k C. Reilly – Ralph, The Invincible Destroyer
The animators used action learning techniques to give Ralph the habits of behavior, and Reilly said that he could see his own shadow in Ralph.
Gail Gadot – Sister Flash, Invincible Destruction King 2
Sister Shine's inspiration was Giselle, played by Gadot in Fast and Furious 5:
Jane Lynch – Calhoun, The Invincible Destruction King
Jane Lynch described it this way: "Basically twenty years younger, I am, and then I am a superhero body." ”
Commander Calhoun is easily reminiscent of Jane Lynch's cheerleaders coach in Glee.
Anika Noni Rose – Tiana, The Princess and the Frog
Anika's vocals inspired animators, who deliberately set Tiana as left-handed — just like Anika.
Edward Asner – Carl's Journey Around the Flying House
The glasses are exactly the same! But Karl was actually created based on the actors Spencer Küsse and Walter Matthew.
Christopher Plummer – Charles's Flying House
Pixar staff want Charles to be a "kind and kind grandfather figure, and at the same time can change the villain in a second", isn't that Christopher Plummer?
Aisa Kate – Izama, "Becoming King"
Harald, the animator of "Becoming King," said that in addition to Kate, Izama's image also referenced Peruvian female singer Irma Sumak.
Bobby Driscoll – Peter Pan in Peter Pan (1953)
A year before the animation's release, Bobby and several other voice actors made a live-action film, Treasure Island, to provide a reference for animation production.
Irene Beda – Pocahonta in The Wind
Although Irene and Bulgar Kandy look alike, Bulgar Conti's appearance is actually inspired by many people: supermodel Christie Durrington, supermodel Naomi Campbell, Filipino model Dana Taylor... In short, it is the essence of a variety of models.
Zachary Levy – Eugene in "The Trolls"
It's not so much about looking like it, it's better to say that they all look like... handsome? The director said he also added a little Clark Gable and Beckham to Eugene.
Wen Mingna - Mulan
Wen Mingna said that after the dubbing work was completed, the animator gave Mulan several actions, such as Mulan sitting next to her father and touching her hair.
Irene Audley – Mrs. Plumey, "Fairy Tales"
Erin also voiced the witch in Sleeping Beauty (1959):
Official Cos
Jennifer Sanders – Fairy Godmother Shrek 2
There is a problem with the "eyebrow", but it has recently been discovered that Christina Aguilera may be the real body...
Elijah Wood – Marlboro, Happy Feet
Look at this child's unabashed and breathtaking blue eyes!
Helena Bonham Carter – Emily, The Zombie Bride
Tim Burton's films have a strong personal style, and the actors who often cooperate are often just a few, and this pale and emaciated character image continues into "Zombie Bride".
Are Depp and Victor's eyebrows similar?
Dwayne Johnson – Maui's Ocean's Adventure
With a tattoo, tall and muscular body and having attended school in Hawaii, Boulder and Maui bear many similarities, though he tweeted that Maui was inspired by his grandfather.
Danny DeVito – Philos, Hercules (1997)
aka Hercules
Remember this animated episode that the Little Dragon Club broadcast? Danny DeVito voiced coach Philos in the film version, and the animators used the movement of his lips during recordings to animate it.
High energy ahead!
One of the characteristics of animation is that it is not constrained by reality, basically it is not unpainted and can only be imagined, so why are there so many animated characters and voice actors who are similar?
As mentioned above, the most immediate reason is that the animators extract the qualities of the voice actors and add them to the animated characters, or simply create based on the roles that the voice actors or voice actors have played.
And European and American animated movies to find a number of stars to dub is also a routine operation (@"Isle of Dogs"), publicity will often have stars and characters bundled sales, and it is not surprising to look a little further alike.
Scarlett Johansson, "The Voice of Joy"
Nicholas Cage, "Crazy Primitive Man"
In addition, "dubbing" or "voice acting" is not just a sentence and a song, but a full-body participation performance, and the little freckles have to take off when dubbing "Invincible Primitive":
From this point of view, voice actors do not just give the character a voice, but may move closer to the character in terms of action, demeanor, emotion, and even dress, and in the process, shape the character with the animator.
James Corden for "Peter Rabbit" all this way (fog)
The influence between the animated image and the voice actors is mutual, and there is no first-come, first-served distinction. Of course, the possibility of "coincidence" is not ruled out, after all, a person's voice (especially the actor) is consistent with the appearance to a certain extent.
But then again, "looking alike" is itself a vague, even subjective, concept. The similarity of body shape, height, age, hair color, and pupil color can be quantified, but the similarity of the facial features is a matter of opinion, and sometimes just the expression will make people feel "god-like", look at the "face bumping face" of this group of animals and stars:
How many points are similar, how many points are godlike? I can't say it clearly, and the more I look at it, the more I look like it.
Finally, there's another reason: good-looking people/characters are just as good-looking, and ugly are incredibly ugly.
This "good look" sometimes comes from the exposure effect (familiar = like), such as sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, the fairy companion, even if it is painted as "Simpson style", it is also very attractive!
