Military medical science popularization: Band-Aids are not "universal stickers"

Xiao Li, a senior soldier in a certain army unit, accidentally cut his finger while helping the cook in the cooking class, immediately rinsed the wound with tap water, and put a Band-Aid on the wound. A few days later, Xiao Li found that the wound on his hand not only did not improve, but also appeared red, swollen and suppurative, so he had to come to the health company to ask for help from the military doctor Wang Qi.

After treating Xiao Li, Wang Jun doctor told him that this was caused by improper wound treatment. Band-aids have the effect of stopping bleeding and preventing the wound from being damaged again. Many comrades-in-arms are accustomed to attaching Band-Aids after scratches and cuts, but if they are not used properly, they will not only play a protective role, but also cause inflammation of the wounds. Before applying the Band-Aid, the wound should be carefully checked for dirt, and then the wound should be cleaned with saline or hydrogen peroxide, and if possible, anti-inflammatory drugs such as iodoglycerides can be applied. Try not to get wet on the wound, if you are accidentally soaked by water, you should replace the Band-Aid immediately. It is best to change the Band-Aid once a day when using It is best to pay attention to the changes in the wound. Band-aid pasting for too long will block the pores of the skin, resulting in poor local skin ventilation, which is not only not conducive to wound healing, but also easy to breed bacteria. If there are symptoms such as redness and swelling of the wound and exudation, it may be that the wound is infected, and the military doctor should be found in time for treatment.

It should be noted that Band-Aids are not "universal stickers". Ordinary Band-Aids are mainly used to treat small wounds that are neat, clean, bleeding and do not require suturing. If the following conditions occur, treat the symptoms, do not use Band-Aids: if the wound is narrow and deep, you should first press to stop bleeding, and then clean and disinfect the wound to keep the wound exposed; if the wound has a foreign body, you should carry out local debridement in time, remove the foreign body and then bandage the wound; if you are injured by iron, especially if the iron has been rusted, you should first clean the wound, keep the wound exposed, and inject tetanus vaccine as soon as possible; if you are scratched or bitten by an animal, first rinse the wound with a lot of water or soapy water, and then disinfect it with iodine. And inject rabies vaccine as soon as possible; if burned by high temperature, it should be removed from the heat source at the first time, gently rinse or soak the burned area with clean running cold water for 10-30 minutes, and then carry out subsequent treatment.
