Hannan Academy reopened

Hannan Academy reopened

Recently, the "Hannan Academy", which was founded in the Qing Dynasty, has a history of 282 years and was once known as the highest school in southern Shaanxi, has finally reopened to the public.

Hannan Academy, located in the west section of The Middle School Lane in Hantai District, Hanzhong City, is the predecessor of Hanzhong Middle School, which was founded in March of the fourth year of the Qianlong Dynasty (1739), and was initiated and donated by Yue Li, then the deputy envoy of Hannan, Zhu Xiansheng, the prefect of Hanzhong, and Hou Tianzhang of Nanzhengzhi County, and was selected as a abandoned shrine on the east side of the ruins of the Mingrui Royal Palace in the north of the city. Through the division of the school field, the donation of honest money, the creation of the Zhai House, the gate wall, the opening of official classes, the establishment of rules, and the collection of students to study, the amount of "Hannan Academy". The word "Hannan" first appeared in the "Mengdongji And Different Uses" of the "Lü's Spring and Autumn", which means "south of the Han River". In the Tang Dynasty, the middle and upper reaches of the Han River belonged to Shannan Province, and the seat of governance was Xiangyang, called "Hannan". Later, "Shannan Province" was divided into east and west provinces, and the capital (that is, the provincial capital) of "Shannan West Province" was in Hanzhong, which also had the meaning of "Hannan". During the Ming and Qing dynasties after the Tang and Song dynasties, with the large-scale development of the Qinba Mountains and the development of education and cultural undertakings, Hanzhong had the elegant name of "Hannan". By the time of the Qing Dynasty, Hannan had already referred to Hanzhong alone. In the nearly one hundred years of history of Qianlong, Jiaqing and Daoguang, the college was briefly interrupted by the intrusion of the White Lotus Sect, and then under the successive reconstructions and expansions of SongJun, the governor of Shaanxi and Gansu, Yan Ruxuan, the governor of Hanzhong, and Yang Mingyi, the prefect of Daoguang Hanzhong, the college increased the number of houses and private donations and funds, and by the ninth year of Daoguang (1829), Hannan Academy had built a gate, a second gate, a Wenchang Ancestral Hall, a Kuixing Pavilion, a triple house, and more than 100 courtyards, purchased more than 1,000 acres of school fields, and the maximum number of students and children in various counties reached more than 240. Even for the children of Nanzheng (present-day Hantai District), the Zhongliang Academy, was built, which became the most large-scale and influential government-run government-affiliated education place in southern Shaanxi.

However, in the second year of Tongzhi (1863), the academy was suddenly plagued by war, the house was burned down, and the school book was also burned. Two years later, thanks to the initiative of Li Wenmin, then the governor of Jiangxi and a native of Xixiang, to donate silver, the prefect of Hanzhong also allocated the Southern Zheng estate to the academy, which was restored. In the twelfth year of Guangxu (1886), Wang Pingshan, a member of the Household Department wailang and a native of Baocheng (present-day Mian County), resigned his official duties due to eye disease and returned to his hometown to preside over the affairs of the academy, he raised silver two, built a house, added books, Ming etiquette, heavy conduct, Xi Yili, and reformed the new school, and in the thirty-first year of Guangxu (1905), he successfully realized the transformation of the academy into an academy, and was renamed "Hanzhong Prefecture Government Hannan Middle School".

With the founding of the Republic of China, the imperial examination was abolished, and the government named it "Hanzhong Middle School". From the beginning of its founding to the end of the Qing Dynasty, through the 1670 years of the Seven Dynasties of Qianlong, Jiaqing, Daoguang, Xianfeng, Tongzhi, Guangxu and Xuantong, Hannan Academy has become an educational and cultural center in the hinterland of Qinba, with as many as 48 zhongjinshi, including Li Wenmin from Xixiang, Chen Daotan from Nanzheng, yue Zhenchuan from Yangxian and other leaders of the Heavenly Han Dynasty and the pillars of the country. During this period, the local documents "Jiaqing Hannan Continuation County Chronicle", "Qianlong Nan Zheng County Chronicle", "Selected Poems of Shannan", and "Compilation of Ancient Monuments of Baogu" edited during this period are all important cultural heritages in the history of Hanzhong.

Not only that, before the founding of New China, when Liu Cifeng, a native of Luoyang, was the principal, it was also an important place for the early dissemination of progressive cultural ideas in southern Shaanxi, solidarity with the anti-imperialist patriotic movement, rescue of underground party members, and training and transporting enthusiastic young people. After the founding of New China, the school was renamed "Shaanxi Provincial Hanzhong Middle School", which is one of the first fifteen key middle schools in the province and a provincial demonstration high school. In 2000, the former site of Hannan College was listed as a municipal key cultural protection unit. In 2015, due to the gradual expansion of the scale of running the school, Hanzhong Middle School relocated to a new site and rebuilt, after nearly three hundred years of vicissitudes, full of the historical charm of Hannan, condensing the humanistic spirit of Hanzhong, carrying the logo of Hannan Chinese College, the old site of Hannan Academy has since lived in a dark alley, the gate is closed, the gloomy is lonely, few people are interested, and gradually disappeared in the prosperity and hustle and bustle of the city...

In recent years, the call to strengthen the protection and utilization of cultural relics in Hannan Academy has become increasingly strong, and a number of CPPCC members have proposed several times, suggesting that hannan academy be reopened to the public and the Hanzhong Education Museum be built, so as to create a new landmark of the city brand of "learning and research in Hanzhong". There is a way: cold ice can not cut off the flow of water, dead wood will also meet the spring. Under the active promotion of CPPCC members and all sectors of society, Hanzhong Middle School raised funds to raise funds, renovate and set up exhibitions, which lasted only more than four months, and repaired Hannan Academy, which had been abandoned for many years.

On the day of the opening, when it was announced that "Hannan Academy in Hanzhong City was officially reopened to the public free of charge", the door of Hannan Academy under the plaque of "Learning day by day" was slowly opened, marking the official opening of a new milestone in the cause of Han Chinese education. The masses from all walks of life and representatives of teachers and students who came to participate in the ceremony walked into the academy, only to see the ancient trees and greenery, and the ancient rhymes and fragrances. According to Wen Qinghua, principal of Hanzhong Middle School, the overall building of the college is in the Style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, divided into three courtyards and four courtyards plus a corridor layout, covering an area of nearly 4 acres, only 1/20 of the prosperous time, which was a place for worshipping Confucius and local sages, and had both books and teachers' offices. The two sides of the gate are divided into left and right gatehouses, the central square inside the second gate has the largest bronze statue of Confucius in the northwest region at that time, next to it there are two stone tablets with long handwriting due to their age, after the bronze statue is "Mao Han Tang", the hall furnishings are simple, it should be the place where the students conducted official classes and museum classes in that year; the hall before the Dangui fragrance, the osmanthus tree is both a Hanzhong City tree, and the meaning of Dengke Folding Gui and the first; the door pillar is engraved with "Tui JiDi has its own origin, Hanshui Han County Chinese; ask who is The English, Zhang Gong Li Gong Fang Gong", This shows the large number and influence of the talents cultivated here in those years. After passing through the Mao Han Hall, you will come to the Kuiwen Pavilion, behind the pavilion is a different kind of cave, there are climbing cypress Lingxiao, Hongqiao Lying Wave, swimming fish in the pool, both "smoke cage Green Pavilion, Liuwen Swing Painting Bridge" of tranquility, but also "water moon in hand, make flowers full of clothes" meaning. Crossing the stone bridge is the highest hall of the college, the Dacheng Hall, which was once the place where the meritorious name was obtained and the first students honored the ancestors, returned to Sangzi, and honored the ancestors of the Guangzong. Stepping out of the Dacheng Hall and stopping along the corridors on both sides to visit, in addition to the famous people who have been founding the school, the stone carvings of merit, the rules and regulations of the school motto, and the calligraphy works, it also shows the outstanding dean of the college, the superintendent, the well-known alumni and the educational achievements of Hanzhong in recent years.

Stepping out of the academy, looking back at the slightly mottled vermilion gate of the academy that has been weathered by wind, frost, rain and snow, and re-examining this humanistic resort of "Gong Yuming, Ku Yuqing, and Humanistic Yixue; Back to the Mountains, Linhan, and The Foundation of the Imperial Industry", people can't help but sigh:

In the past, although the Three Hundred Years College of Hannan has changed its name and has risen and fallen, it has never stopped living and passing on the torch. Thanks to the generosity of many gentlemen and sages, pouring out their money, giving back to Sangzi, and living in great merit; how many people who practice the words and deeds of the ancestors, teach by themselves, write in style and style, and tao and li into shade; how many Xinxin students abide by the rules and regulations, read hard in the cold window, apply to the world, and become confucians in the middle of the world, they are the leaders of the Three Qins and the pillars of the country!

The reopening of Hannan College will surely re-establish the logo of humanistic education in Hanzhong, and in this way, it will comfort the sages and enlighten the world, which is the blessing of education and the gospel of the people!

is for the record.
