When the murderous Japanese army rushed to Xuxiang Village, they were attracted by a wonderful scene. More than forty well-dressed villagers gathered at the entrance of the village, holding plaster and white flags, and were sincerely waiting for the arrival of the imperial army. For the beastly Japanese army, it was too unexpected, because it was very different from the village that ran away from the wind or the ten rooms and nine empty. What surprised the Japanese army even more was that a student holding a plaster flag actually made a warm gesture of affection in fluent Japanese.
Xuxiang is a village close to Wuxi, because it is surrounded by rivers on all sides, the location is remote, and there have been almost no military disasters in history, so it is a paradise in the eyes of the locals.
Knowing that the Japanese army was rushing towards Wuxi, and Xuxiang Village was afraid of not being affected by the military disaster, the villagers panicked, and every family either dug a hole in the ground or prepared to flee from home.
However, the two big families in the village, Xu Shunxian and Xu Yaoxian, have always been in danger and have a calm posture. Not only that, but they also advised their neighbors that the target of the invaders was the capital, and that they would not be too alarmed to be interested in the small Xu Lane.
I have to mention another sad figure, Xu Xinhe, who is the second son of Xu Shunxian, who has just returned from studying in Japan, claims to have many Japanese friends, and also preaches to the villagers how civilized and humble the Japanese nation is, how to pay attention to etiquette, and claims that as long as they show friendship with the Japanese, they will be treated with friendly courtesy.
The ignorant conceit of the two large families calmed the panic of the villagers, and only 2 of the 63 families in the village took refuge outdoors. What's more, some relatives from Shanghai and Wuxi among the villagers have also come to Xuxiang Village to take refuge, so that the village, which originally had more than 230 people, suddenly had nearly 200 more people. In order to convince the Japanese army of the goodwill of Xuxiang Village, the two large households also arranged a welcoming crowd of more than 40 people, including 16 of their families, holding plaster flags and white flags, and solemnly waiting for the Japanese troops at the entrance of the village.
On the afternoon of November 24, 1937, the red-eyed devil's soldiers and the enthusiastic Xuxiang villagers met unexpectedly, and as everyone knew, this was an encounter between a vicious wolf and a lamb.
In his book Interviews with the Beginning and End of the Nanjing Massacre, the Japanese Motodara Katsuichi wrote that even though Xu Xinhe expressed goodwill in fluent Japanese, the Japanese army drove their entire family to a depression and shot them all. Among the villagers in Xuxiang Village who were slaughtered, Xu Shunxian and Xu Yaoxian's two families were killed the most.
The atrocities committed by the Japanese army in Xuxiang Village are almost a miniature version of the Nanjing Massacre 20 days later. This group of so-called "civilized and humble" beasts, even to this day, there are some Chinese people who hold this evaluation, and even the beasts in Xuxiang Village are ashamed of themselves. After the woman was brutally gang-raped, the body was dismembered, and the cruelty was so cruel that it could be described as a terrible person, and the author really could not bear to go into details.
On this day, Xuxiang Village fell into the terrifying waves of bloody rain and wind, and the screams and wailing sounds resounded in mid-air. The atrocities of the Japanese army resulted in the murder of 223 people and the rape of 19 women by the Japanese army, of which 4 women were raped and then tortured and killed. Among the dead were the elderly in their 80s, as well as infants, who burned 94 houses, and a quiet and beautiful village was destroyed by the Japanese army in a few moments.
Xuxiang Village is now subordinate to a district street in Wuxi City, the local government has established a memorial hall for the Xuxiang Massacre, this measure is very necessary, the past is not forgotten, the teacher of the future, the Xuxiang Massacre is a true portrayal of "The Devil is Coming", which is of great reflective value.
