An American Chinese's Olympic cry: "The Olympics are not a battlefield where one country demonizes another"

On January 11, the Website of the Asia Times in Hong Kong published an article titled "Let the Olympic Games Begin," written by Jin Lianzhao, a former Chinese-American investment banker and former nuclear physicist, who said that the goal of the Olympic Movement is to contribute to building a peacefuler and better world by educating young people in the Olympic spirit through sports without any discrimination. When China hosted the 2008 Beijing Olympics, my brother and I were in tears. We rejoice in China's renaissance and we are saddened that our father did not witness the triumphal symbolism of this grand occasion.

He will be proud, because the Chinese around the world will see a great civilization rise from the rubble. Although our father had a master's degree from New York University, he had as difficulty finding a job as many Chinese in the United States.

These athletes are making sacrifices, as are countless other athletes. They are the best representatives of amateur sports.

The Olympics are not a political battleground in which one country demonizes another. The spirit of internationalism is the only way for the world to survive. In the spirit of internationalism, let the Olympic Games begin.
