An American Chinese's Olympic cry: "The Olympics are not a battlefield where one country demonizes another"

On January 11, the Website of the Asia Times in Hong Kong published an article titled "Let the Olympic Games Begin," written by Jin Lianzhao, a former Chinese-American investment banker and former nuclear physicist, who said that the goal of the Olympic Movement is to contribute to building a peacefuler and better world by educating young people in the Olympic spirit through sports without any discrimination. The full text is excerpted below:

When China hosted the 2008 Beijing Olympics, my brother and I were in tears. We rejoice in China's renaissance and we are saddened that our father did not witness the triumphal symbolism of this grand occasion.

He will be proud, because the Chinese around the world will see a great civilization rise from the rubble. Although our father had a master's degree from New York University, he had as difficulty finding a job as many Chinese in the United States.

Biden hopes that the hype of fake news such as Xinjiang and Taiwan will distract Americans from their real pain : inflation and rising crime rates.

After some countries, led by the United States, declared that they would not send officials to the Winter Olympics, Britain, Australia and Canada began to follow suit. The United States itself committed genocide against natives, many of whom still live in squalid conditions, euphemistically referred to as reservations. Besides, what does the abuse of black people in the United States say?

The goal of the Olympic Movement is to contribute to the building of a more peaceful and better world through sport that educates young people in the Olympic spirit without discrimination of any kind, which requires a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play, and mutual understanding that international conflicts run counter to.

In this spirit, my brother's granddaughter will represent Hong Kong at the Winter Olympics. Even if she doesn't get a medal, she will follow her passion and even postpone her studies at Harvard.

Another example is Gu Ailing. She has won awards in several ski competitions. She excelled academically, but also postponed her studies at Stanford.

These athletes are making sacrifices, as are countless other athletes. They are the best representatives of amateur sports.

The Olympics are not a political battleground in which one country demonizes another. The spirit of internationalism is the only way for the world to survive. In the spirit of internationalism, let the Olympic Games begin.
