Born in 2000, Han Yu was selected for the national training team in 2018, a young team re-formed after the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. After becoming captain in 2019, Han Yu led the team to win the 2019 Asia-Pacific Championship and the 10th place at the 2021 Curling World Championships. Affected by the epidemic in early 2020, the national curling training team had few opportunities to participate in the competition, so there was not much competition experience, but the strength of the players was quite strong.

From November 22 to December 31, 2021, the Curling National Training Team Olympic Selection Tournament was held in Shougang Park, Erqi National Ice and Snow Sports Training Base and other venues. There are 6 stations in the Beijing Olympic Curling Selection Competition, the participating teams are divided into national training teams and national challenge teams, with a total of 4 men's and women's teams and 5 mixed doubles teams participating, in 6 weeks, the selection competition carried out 48 four-person competitions and 60 mixed doubles competitions.

According to the selection rules of the Winter Olympic Games, the training and logistics of the two women's teams adhere to the same standard, and after the Olympic selection competition, the Winter Games Center counts the personal data of each participating athlete, the number of victories and losses, etc., and then determines the final lineup for the Beijing Winter Olympics through comprehensive ranking. Although the national challenge team has a number of veterans who participated in previous Winter Olympic Games, such as Wang Rui and Ma Jingyi, the Han Yu team finally stood out and was shortlisted for the Winter Olympics.

When it comes to this young team, captain Han Yu believes that the biggest feature is "mutual trust", whether in life or on the field of competition, everyone relies on each other and gives each other strength. Third baseman Dong Ziqi mentioned that for curling, the trust and tacit understanding between teammates is the basis for winning the game, "Each of us believes in each other, and every time we throw a pot, we pay 100 percent." ”

Since its first participation in the Curling Competition at the Winter Olympics in 2010, the Chinese women's curling team has achieved a good job. At the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, the Chinese women's team composed of Wang Bingyu, Liu Yin, Yue Qingshuang and Zhou Yan won the bronze medal. At the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics and the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Wang Bingyu led the team to 7th and 5th places respectively.

According to the Beijing Winter Olympic Curling Schedule announced by the World Curling Federation, the women's curling event of the Beijing Winter Olympics will start on February 10, and at 9:05 a.m. on the same day, the Chinese women's curling team will play against Denmark for the first time.
