Multiple online videos show that the citizen bought vegetables and other daily necessities online, and the store's quotation system showed that potatoes were 20 yuan a kilogram, cabbage was 20 yuan a kilogram, ball lettuce was 26 yuan a kilogram, and long peppers were 29 yuan a kilogram. At about 11:00 a.m. on January 9, the citizen spent 71 yuan to buy two green onions, three potatoes, four tomatoes and a cabbage.

The citizen Mr. Zhang (pseudonym) introduced that he is a resident of the Blu-ray Yongjin Xiangsong Community in Jinnan District, which is currently under lockdown and cannot go out. On January 9, he bought 4 kinds of vegetables for 71 yuan at a convenience store in the community. He believes that the price of this dish is much more expensive than before when it was normal.

On January 12, the staff of the Market Supervision Office of Xianshuigu Town, Tianjin, told Jimu News that they and the police conducted a special inspection of the convenience store and retrieved the store's purchase and sales records since January 9. The store has the highest profit margin for potatoes, with a purchase price of 2.5 yuan per catty, a selling price of 10 yuan per catty, and a net income of 3 times. According to the guidance issued by the Tianjin Municipal Market Supervision Commission, if the income of the merchant reaches 10 times during the epidemic period, it can be punished by price gouging, and the store's behavior has not yet constituted price gouging. They have given administrative guidance to the store to keep profits within 50 percent, and the store has now closed for rectification. During the on-site inspection, they found that the store had an unambiguous price tag, and some of the goods were not clearly marked. In response to this matter, they have filed a case to investigate and imposed an administrative penalty of 5,000 yuan on the store.
