On November 7, 2021, after layers of selection, Wang Yao, as the representative of journalists in Hunan Province, participated in the eighth national "Good Journalists Tell Good Stories" speech contest, became one of the 10 journalists in the country who spoke on the CCTV stage, and told the story of Academician Yuan Longping, who relayed the relay report of Hunan Radio and Television reporters to the national audience.
