TA: 39-year-old veteran Defoe will leave rangers after working as a player and coach

The Athletic reported on Jan. 12 that 39-year-old veteran Defoe is expected to leave the Glasgow Rangers in this winter window.

Defoe moved to player-cum-coaching for rangers last summer, but he has only made two appearances for the team this season. After the departure of former manager Gerrard, Van Bronckhorst took over the team and brought his own coaching staff, including former Netherlands international Ma Kai.

Defoe is ready to leave this month, while rangers recall Swiss striker Clydick Ayton from Fürth.
