Peng Zhiling [Shi Yan], born in 1927 (1927-2013), a native of Fuling, Chongqing, graduated from the Southwest American College [now the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts]. He is currently a member of the China Artists Association, a senior arts and crafts artist, specializing in Chinese landscape painting. In 2001, he was commended for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Chongqing Academy of Chinese Painting. In 2009, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles awarded the honorary certificate of the 60th anniversary of the new Chinese literary and artistic workers. Over the years, the National Industrial Achievements Exhibition has been held in the exhibition halls of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the Ministry of Ordnance Industry, and the China Shipbuilding Corporation. Many of his Chinese paintings have been collected by national leaders, domestic museums, art galleries, galleries at home and abroad, and collectors. His works have participated in many international, domestic and foreign exhibitions and won many awards. In 1996, he held solo exhibitions in Canada, Brunei, Malaysia and other countries, and more of his works were used as a national gift for Chinese government leaders to visit overseas, and many works were published and distributed by the National Publishing House. Biographies have been included in many major dictionaries such as [Chinese Artists]. Representative works participating in the national art exhibition include [Civil Air Defense Battle Song], [Prepared for Trouble], [New Look of Deep Mountains], [Smoke and Clouds of the Gorge River] and so on.
In his early years, Mr. Peng Laoling had many contacts with Huang Junbi and Fu Baoshi, and his painting style was influenced by it. Many years of travel to the Mountains and Rivers of Bashu sketching and creation. In his later landscape works, his brushwork changed dramatically. With the kunjiang river, the works of the bashu mountains and rivers become the main body.
