The reporter recently learned from the Beijing International Design Week Organizing Committee that the permanent site of Beijing International Design Week, located in Zhangjiawan Design Town, the sub-center of the city, has completed the façade and entered the interior decoration stage of the venue, which is scheduled to be delivered and used in June this year. After the completion of the permanent venue, the project will gradually improve and build into a Chinese design museum on the basis of providing services such as conference forums, display transactions, and display collections.

Old factory building becomes "future space"
The permanent site of Beijing International Design Week has a total construction area of 17,000 square meters, and the main structure is three floors above ground and one floor underground, which is reconstructed on the basis of the old factory building in the former North Bubble Light Steel Mill Area. Xiang Hu, the project leader of the permanent site of Beijing International Design Week of Beijing Construction Engineering Group, introduced that the project is now carrying out indoor decoration and outdoor landscaping work, and the first phase of the project is expected to be completed and delivered at the end of June this year, with the conditions for use.
At present, the façade of the permanent meeting site has been completed and unveiled. Among them, the red brick curtain wall, which is rich in industrial style and artistic atmosphere, is composed of 62,000 handmade clay bricks, each of which is manually masonry by workers. The project also retains the original steel structure of the old factory building, and deliberately "exposes" the steel beams and columns with industrial style, and the contrast between the new and old buildings is sharp and integrated, leaving a precious industrial memory and exuding a full sense of the future.
Interior decoration, a lighted patio is designed in the public hall, and the outside is made of different types of brick masonry. The first half is made of handmade clay bricks, which echo the red brick curtain wall of the building's façade, and the lower part is made of transparent glass bricks, and the daylight can be sprinkled through the brick wall into the hall, as if the red brick curtain wall is suspended, reflecting the free and flexible design effect. Greenery will be planted inside the lighted patio, and an old tree in the former Beipao Light Steel Mill area will be transplanted here, creating an iconic landscape with modern garden art.
The roof of the public hall and the walls on both sides are composed of aluminum panels and blue machine bricks, and the large-scale laying of aluminum panels makes the hall modern, and at the same time, it integrates the retro style of hand-built blue machine bricks, blending and colliding with the fashion beauty. The curtain wall of the blue machine brick masonry has also been partially hollowed out, and the interior is decorated with atmospheric lighting, which can present the effect of light and shadow flow and free change.
Document the history of the design of the Republic
In addition to serving as a meeting and exhibition space for Beijing International Design Week, the permanent site project of Beijing International Design Week will be gradually improved into a Chinese design museum in the future.
Wang Yudong, chairman of Beijing International Design Week Co., Ltd., introduced that the preparatory work for the "China Design Museum" has been launched. In the future, it will be built into a recorder and narrator of Chinese design history, a power center and release platform for Asian design innovation, and a living room and workstation for global designers in Beijing.

The China Design Museum will also create a multi-functional gathering place, introduce a variety of cultural and artistic formats, provide professional supporting service facilities for designers gathered here, and create a fashion trend cultural activity space for young people. Wang Yudong introduced that the China Design Museum will build a proofing center to facilitate designers to quickly realize design transformation and improve design schemes. Due to some practical reasons, at present, after the designer completes the design of the work, it is difficult to find the nearest proofing manufacturer, which affects the design conversion efficiency. After the completion of the proofing center, it will effectively improve the transformation efficiency of the design plan and make it more convenient for designers to modify and present various works.
Supporting the proofing center, the Material Museum is also one of the functional areas that the China Design Museum will focus on in the future, which can provide designers with different types of material samples, and facilitate designers to choose suitable design materials to improve their works. In addition, a designer training center will be set up on the second floor of the main venue of the permanent venue, and post-baccalaureate training will be held in cooperation with a number of universities in the future to provide young designers with opportunities to learn and exercise.
In addition, the China Design Museum will also introduce trend art, performing arts, etc., to create digital wave Park, LiveHouse digital music cube and other literary and artistic activities, absorb bookstores, coffee shops, restaurants, science and technology experiences, cultural and creative stores, music studios, global release halls and other formats to settle in, and build digital creative design pop-up blocks. The reporter learned that the North Bubble Light Steel Plant area is invested and constructed by the Tong Investment Company in three phases, the first phase is the permanent site project of Beijing International Design Week; the second phase is located on the north side of the permanent site, which is used for the old factory area, and will build a home center and town life supporting facilities, which will have both office and commercial uses; the third phase will also build a sinking square, integrate into the overall planning of the blanket block, and create a fashion trend activity space.
