The photos of the scene provided by netizens were taken during the day, and the reporter saw that there were some small holes in the mud, and there were long strips of dirt piled up near the mouth of the cave, which should have been recently dug out from the wetness of the soil.

After the microblog was issued, many netizens @ Wuxi posted, @ Ping An Wuxi and @ China Police Online, and netizens commented, "Tomb robbers are so rampant" and "alarm" and so on.

The reporter contacted the relevant departments and got feedback on the afternoon of January 10: this is not a tomb robbery, it is in archaeological exploration and excavation.

The relevant departments of Xinwu District responded:

Last year, the Wuxi Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Center (Wuxi Institute of Cultural Heritage Protection and Archaeology) was commissioned by the Wuxi Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics to conduct archaeological survey and exploration of the A and B plots on both sides of Hongshan Street to Xian Road.

Among them, plot A found ancient tombs, wells, Spring and Autumn period ruins, an area of more than 4,000 square meters; plot B also found many ancient tombs.

Subsequently, the Cultural Relics Department of Wuxi Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism (Cultural Relics Bureau) organized relevant personnel to hold a coordination meeting for the protection of cultural relics in plots A and B on both sides of Zhixian Road.

The meeting clearly excavated the ancient tombs and ancient sites that have been discovered, and the proposed excavation area is 1500 square meters.

In recent years, archaeological novels have become popular and archaeological programs have become popular, and the original niche archaeology has gradually attracted the attention of netizens, and the same is true in Wuxi.

Wuxi is a place with a history

In recent years, in Wuxi Meicun and Jiangyin Ligang, there have been news of the discovery of ancient tombs, and their importance has been misrepresented as "imperial mausoleum", "rewriting Chinese history" and so on.

Through the intervention of the media, the interaction between the cultural relics department and netizens is also very rapid, and the rumors can be quickly clarified - the discovery of the site of the ancestors of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties in Meicun and the discovery of the tang and Song ancient river channel ruins in Ligang.

Hongshan once had a major archaeological discovery, the early Warring States Yue ancient tomb group was listed in the "2004 China Top Ten Archaeological Discoveries", and the "Yufei Phoenix" that later became the symbol of Wuxi was a cultural relic excavated at that time.
