After signing Trippier, Newcastle are interested in buying Benfica's 23-game 18-ball striker for $50 million

In the January transfer window, Newcastle have spent £12m to sign full-back Trippier from Atletico Madrid.

Faced with relegation this season, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe hopes the club can continue to strengthen.

The Magpies' offensive prowess itself is not very strong, and after the injury of the team's top scorer Karum Wilson, the introduction of a center forward was a top priority.

In the 19th round of the Premier League, Newcastle drew 1-1 at home to Manchester United, and Newcastle striker Wilson had a torn calf muscle and will be absent for at least two months.

According to foreign media reports, Newcastle club is seeking to buy Portuguese Benfica center Darwin Nunez.

Darwin Nunez, 22, is a Uruguayan player who is 1.88 meters tall and plays as a center forward. This season, Darwin Núñez made 23 appearances for Benfica, scoring 18 goals.

Newcastle were so desperate to get a striker that they were willing to raise the initial £40m offer for Benfica player Darwin Nunez to £50m today.

Benfica, on the other hand, is in no hurry to sell, and they are waiting for La Liga Atletico Madrid to bid for their centre-forwards to raise the price of players.

In addition to being interested in Darwin Nunez, Newcastle are also interested in attacking players such as Arsenal's Aubameyang, Liverpool's Origi and Burnley's Chris Wood.
