The last emperor of Russia was disastrous, his family was killed, and the youngest of five children was only 14 years old

There is an old Chinese saying that "the winner is the king, and the loser is the coward", and this truth applies not only in the history of China, but also in the history of other countries. The last emperor of Tsarist Russia ended up in a tragic fate, the family was killed, the remains were discarded in abandoned mines, and it was not until decades later that their remains were found.

Nicholas II Aleksandrovich, known historically as Nicholas II, the eldest son of Alexander III, was the last emperor of the Romanov dynasty of Russia. When he was born, the Romanov dynasty already had problems, which also determined that his ending would not be good. Nicholas II ascended the throne in 1894, at a time when the tsarist system was in a state of flux. But he still insisted on external expansion and internal reforms, but the results were not satisfactory.

In 1905, Lushun, Russia's leased territory in the Qing Dynasty, was conquered by the Japanese, causing strong dissatisfaction among the Russians, and the "Blood Sunday" incident occurred in St. Petersburg, where more than 1,000 people were killed and thousands injured. The incident infuriated the workers completely, and there were strikes and protests everywhere. It also shows that there is no chance of reconciliation in the contradictions between the Tsarist government and the Russian working class. Moreover, the incident also shattered the image of the benevolent "little father" of the Tsarist who had always been cherished by many Tsarist Russians, and all sectors of society opposed the Tsarist regime, which eventually led to the outbreak of the "Russian Revolution". In order to stabilize the situation in the country, Nicholas II signed the Declaration on the Rectification of the State Order, declaring that the Russian Empire had begun to introduce a constitutional monarchy. Coupled with Stolypin's reforms, the domestic situation was barely stable.

Soon, Nicholas II's policy of expansion led him to a more complex Balkan problem. Not only is it a place of complex ethnic composition and religion, but it has also been europe's powder keg since ancient times. The tsarist regime was in jeopardy, and internal contradictions intensified again. The corruption of Nicholas II's rule provoked the Russian people to rise up in a revolutionary struggle. In particular, after Nicholas II began to preside over the front command in 1915, the Fox Dog Party in the Tsarist court headed by Rasputin seized great power in the royal family, and under the manipulation of the Rasputin regime, the entire state apparatus was paralyzed and powerless, and there were many scandals inside and outside the court. Russia's defeat in the First World War revived the russian revolutionary movement.

At the end of Nicholas II's reign, the famous "February Revolution" and the "October Revolution" broke out in Russia, the former overthrew his rule, and the latter eventually killed him. After the outbreak of the February Revolution, Nicholas II wanted to pass the throne to his younger brother, but was refused and forced to abdicate on 2 March 1917. At this point, the Romanov dynasty collapsed.

On 8 March, at the strong request of workers and soldiers in St. Petersburg, the bourgeois Provisional Government had to arrest Nicholas II's family, imprison them in the Imperial Village, and then move to Tobolsk, Siberia. After the October Revolution, Nicholas II and his family were transferred to Yekaterinburg and imprisoned in the apartment of the merchant Ipatiev.

Around the night of July 16, 1918, the Nicholas II family was driven to the basement by the Bolshevik secret police, and were collectively strafed by the police's machine guns, all of them died. Later, the police dismembered all the bodies, then poured sulfuric acid and gasoline to destroy them, and the last remnants of the bones were discarded in the abandoned mine shaft.

It is worth mentioning that Nicholas II's 5 children were all beautiful and attracted much attention at the time. The only son, Alexei, was only 14 years old when he was killed; the eldest daughter Olga was 23 years old; the second daughter, Tadiana, was 21 years old, the third daughter Maria was 19 years old, and the youngest daughter Anastasia was 17 years old.

In addition, other members of the Tsarist royal family were arrested or transferred, with only Nicholas II's mother, Maria Fyodorovna, returning to her native country, Denmark, and a few members of the Romanov family fleeing abroad. But Nicholas II was in the same vein, and no one survived.

In 1991, the remains of Nicholas II's family were discovered. In 1998, Russian President Boris Yeltsin ordered the burial of the remains of the Tsar's family in the Paul Fortress Church, and a solemn funeral was held. Nicholas II's family, after decades, was able to rest in peace.
