In today's world, revisiting history is already a very important education. Just as the so-called "past does not forget, the teacher of the future", the past experience is a way to make us better. However, there are always some people who are always unwilling to face their own history and avoid those things that have happened, which is really difficult to be affirmed.
More than 100 years ago, the late Qing Dynasty had already implemented the four words of fainting and incompetence to the extreme. In the midst of frequent defeats in the war and the inaction of the Qing court, the Boxer Rebellion took place among the people. This group of rebellious people caused a big storm, and both the Qing Dynasty and foreign powers were hit to a certain extent.
Finally, in 1900 (the year of Gengzi), the Boxers had already aroused the dissatisfaction of the great powers, and with the deliberate indulgence of the Qing court, the Eight-Nation Alliance did not hesitate to drive into the Forbidden City. However, at this time, Cixi and other Qing royal families showed fear and retreat, and directly retreated without a fight, directly allowing the great powers to get the "opportunity they wanted."
In 1901, a "Gengzi indemnity" with a price of up to 450 million yuan for two days was deducted by the great powers on the body of the late Qing Dynasty, with an annual interest of 4 points, which was repaid in 39 years, which was an unbearable humiliation and burden. But thankfully, after the fall of the Qing Dynasty, this huge indemnity was also refunded by the Eight-Nation Alliance. But when all seven countries returned, only one country insisted on not retreating, and its attitude was extremely bad.
In 1904, in the arguments between Liang Cheng, the minister in the United States, and the United States, we keenly discovered their loopholes in the reparations. So after several years of game, from the name of "education", the United States finally agreed to refund in 1908 and drafted a plan.
On the one hand, we can use these reparations to invest in foreign students, on the other hand, the United States has established 12 church universities in China, including Yenching University. After taking the lead, in 1920, France also harmonized the agreement on the refund of reparations. In 1924, the Soviet Union refunded it in full, and 2 years later, the British agreed.
In the 1919 Versailles Contract, Germany gave up its own reparations. Italy and Hungary, which had disintegrated from Austria-Hungary, also agreed to the return in 1919 and 1920, and Belgium agreed to the agreement in 1925. By 1933, all the countries that participated in the reparations had made reparations returns, except Japan.
In response to our attitude toward the issue of indemnity, the Japanese side insisted from beginning to end to use the excuse of "cultural undertakings" to implement refunds. But from beginning to end, they only left the places set up by everyone and the cultural exchange organization, but all the applications for subsidies were rejected. Finally, after 1936, they directly used this money in the "War of Resistance Against Japan" they provoked, and never returned a penny.
To this day, these are a long historical story, but we have never forgotten what happened in the past. In contrast, in Japan, they not only dare not admit history, but even distort and smear it in an attempt to change the understanding of the public. But no matter how they act of escape, the facts that happen will never change, history will not be dimmed by deception, it will only shine brighter in the next time.
