Seeking a pneumatic breakthrough, Dan Bigham is the engineer of the 2022 Ineos race

Recently, Ineos Grenadiers confirmed to the media that Dan Bigham has joined the team as a race engineer for 2022.

Bigham didn't join the team as a driver, but as a staff member (race engineer). The 30-year-old set a one-hour cycling record of 54.723 km in Glenchen, Switzerland, in October 2021. Broke Bradley Wiggins' British one-hour riding record.

Bigham played for Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling last year, and this year it was discovered that the British Cycling Association website changed his team this year to The Ineos, though the team was quick to say Bigham would not race as a driver.

Bigham is not a full-time professional driver, having worked as an aerodynamic consultant for different teams over the past few years, including Jumbo-Visma, Canyon-SRAM and Danish track cycling. And he has proven himself on the field, finishing 16th in the men's time trial elite at the 2021 UCI Road World Championships.

Bigham's experience and knowledge will undoubtedly be of great help to several of the young drivers currently in the Ellis team. He will also assist Filippo Ganna, a 25-year-old Italian rider, to hit the one-hour riding record this year. It is believed that with his help, the possibility of Ganna breaking the world record will be greatly increased.
