On January 6, with the approval of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Hubei Province, Hubei Provincial Library was awarded the Certificate of Qualification for the Restoration of Movable Cultural Relics, and the scope of certification qualifications is: ancient rare books, inscriptions, and archival documents. As a result, Hubei Provincial Library has officially become a unit with the qualification of movable cultural relics restoration.

Founded in 1904, Hubei Provincial Library was planned and founded by Zhang Zhidong and supervised by Hubei Inspector Duanfang, which is of pioneering significance to China's modern library industry. The first batch of ancient books from the Hubei Provincial Library came from the former Jianghan Academy, Jingxin Academy and Lianghu Academy. The rich collection of books and strict rules of the Two Lakes Academy was enough to order the four parties to take the rules, and on that day there was "the world's strange books, for Wen Xiang to search for exhaustion." Later, through continuous purchases and donations, the collection of ancient books remained at the forefront of the country.
In July 2007, Hubei Provincial Library was listed as a pilot unit for the protection of ancient books in China; in March 2008, it was officially named by the State Council as the first batch of national key protection units for ancient books; at present, there are about 460,000 ancient books in our library, with nearly 5,100 rare books and about 50,000 volumes. As of 2021, a total of 120 rare books and ancient books have been selected into the published National Rare Ancient Books List.
In 2015, the Hubei Institute of Ancient Book Restoration Technique Transmission and Learning Center was established, and the tutors were Zhang Ping, a research librarian of the National Library of China, and Zhang Pinfang, director of the Restoration Department of Shanghai Library. After the establishment of the Institute, it has given full play to the academic leadership and technical inheritance role of national ancient book restoration experts in the field of ancient book restoration, and the trainees have covered public libraries, university libraries and museums in Hubei Province, cultivating reserve talent resources for ancient book restoration, forming a restoration team with exquisite skills, dedication and reasonable age echelon, providing a solid foundation and guarantee for the protection of precious ancient books and documents in the province.
In order to give full play to the advantages of Hubei Provincial Library as the largest unit of ancient book collection, protection and restoration in the province and the functions of the province's ancient book restoration technology guidance center, talent training center and external publicity center, after the decision of the library leaders, our library declared to the Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau. After nearly 4 months of careful organization, planning and rectification, in January 2022, our museum successfully passed the audit organized by the Hubei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and officially regained the "movable cultural relics restoration qualification"
The successful acquisition of the movable cultural relics restoration qualification is not only a recognition of the relevant conditions such as the restoration technology and hardware facilities of the Hubei Provincial Library, but also an affirmation of the restoration of ancient books over the years. In the future, Hubei Provincial Library will continue to promote the scientific, standardized and standardized restoration of ancient books in the province to a new level.
