Wang Yi said that thanks to the good natural gas market and the continuous increase in scientific research investment in recent years, the company has not only ensured production capacity, increased the added value of products, but also achieved cleaner production.

In 2010, Zhejiang Energy Group invested 55% and Shandong Xinkuang Group invested 45% to establish Xintian Coal Chemical. In the same year, the construction of the Xintian Coal Chemical Industry Project with an annual output of 2 billion cubic meters of coal-to-natural gas began, and it was officially put into operation in 2017 after a strict environmental assessment by the relevant departments. In 2021, the project won the National Quality Engineering Gold Award.
It has been put into operation for 5 years, and the production capacity is close to full production, which reflects the orderly development and transformation and utilization of coal resources by Xintian Coal Chemical. However, while busy production, as an enterprise producing clean energy, Xintian Coal Chemical also attaches great importance to the cleanliness of the production process.

In 2021, the scientific research investment of Xintian Coal Chemical Industry was 165 million yuan, an increase of 23% over the previous year. At the beginning of xintian coal chemical industry began to produce natural gas, the company used a foreign production device with a high degree of market recognition, but the sulfur recovery was incomplete and the sulfur emission was not up to standard. In order to break through the technical bottleneck and truly achieve green production, the company abandoned this device and invested more than 20 million yuan to study the new technology of acid gas into the thermoelectric boiler + ammonia method desulfurization, which successfully solved the problem of acid gas treatment in the chemical system and improved the yield of ammonium sulfate, a by-product. This technology won the first prize of Zhejiang Electric Power Science and Technology Award.
In order to solve the problem of harmless treatment of water-soluble by-products produced in the production process, the company has invested more than 10 million yuan in research and repeated use of process package treatment technology since 2015. The technology passed the national acceptance in 2019.
At present, Xintian Coal Chemical Industry has achieved zero discharge of waste gas and wastewater residue. Not only that, through the concentration technology, the wastewater becomes a solid salt, and the sodium chloride and sodium sulfite separated from the salt can be used as raw materials for the production of natural gas.
For more than 10 years, Xintian Coal Chemical has invested 3 billion yuan in environmental protection facilities, accounting for one-sixth of the total investment, and built environmental protection projects such as volatile organic compound treatment devices, ultra-low emissions of captive power plants, and sludge drying. In 2020, Xintian Coal Chemical industry was rated as a national high-tech enterprise by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China.
"Look, last year we also planted more than 6,000 acres of dried apricots on the wasteland outside the factory area, and these greenery will become more and more intense with the development and growth of the company." Cao Weidong pointed to a small sapling not far away.
The emphasis on technology research and development investment not only makes Xintian Coal Chemical achieve a clean production process, but also brings direct economic benefits to the company. Since the ammonia desulfurization technology was put into use in 2018, the company uses recycled sulfur to produce ammonium sulfate fertilizer every year, with an income of 40-50 million yuan; extraction and repeated use of by-product process package processing technology, so that the company produces more than 30,000 tons of mixed phenols per year, with an income of more than 60 million yuan.
"In the next step, we will continue to develop the utilization value of by-products, such as the production of higher value-added carbon black and other products, which can help the company generate one or two hundred million yuan in revenue." Xu Xizheng, chief engineer of Xintian Coal Chemical Industry, said.
