Toronto, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Canada Border Services Agency and the Royal Mounted Police revealed on January 5 that they had recently intercepted 100 kilograms of methamphetamine (commonly known as "methamphetamine") at the U.S.-Canada border.

A solo driver arrived at the port of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, on October 18, 2021. When border inspectors inspected his vehicle, the person fled the port at high speed.

Upon receiving the news, the RCMP successfully intercepted the vehicle involved and returned it to the port for inspection. Border inspectors, assisted by police dogs, seized 100 kilograms of methamphetamine in a number of sealed bags in the trunk of the vehicle.

The persons involved were arrested for fleeing ports of entry and suspected of violating the Customs Act and handed over to the Federal Serious Organized Crime Investigation Unit of the RCMP for criminal investigation.

The Canada Border Service and the RCMP said they would remain committed to protecting communities from illegal drug smuggling.
