On November 14, 1908, the Guangxu Emperor and Empress Dowager Cixi died one after another, and Xiao Puyi, who was only 3 years old at the time, was made emperor. The crumbling evening sun ushered in the final round of power transfer. This set of pictures depicts the cabinet power structure of the last late Qing government in Western society through postcards.
First, sitting in the middle is the last emperor Puyi, next to empress dowager Yulong, the regent Zaifeng, Prince Gong, Prince Shun, etc., the late Qing dynasty royal family.
Second, this postcard cartoon portrays the core power figures of the Late Qing Imperial Court with Zaifeng as the core and Puyi and Empress Yulong as the symbols.
Third, in this picture, in addition to the regent Zaifeng and the Prince of Qing, there are also Zhang Zhidong, the four famous ministers of the late Qing Dynasty, and Yuan Shikai, the later brother of Beiyang.
Figure 4: This cartoon uses scenes from Western cabinet meetings to describe the cabinet meetings of The Evening Qing.
