This is a large range of rainy clouds entangled with weak cold air and active water vapor. Although compared with before, the rain and snow weather in China today has weakened, in fact, the sky has not yet cleared in many places today, and the sunshine has not been on the line.
On the satellite cloud map, it can also be noted that today, in addition to the large-scale cold clouds east of China's Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, west of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, there are also thick clouds over India, Pakistan and other ground, and some clouds have begun to pour into China's Xinjiang and Tibet border areas, and these clouds are actually water vapor gushing from the sea, which is creating snowfall in China's Xinjiang and Tibet border areas!
The forecast of the Central Meteorological Observatory believes that from the evening of January 6 to January 7, the rainy and snowy weather in the eastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China will shrink to the central and southern, southwestern, and eastern parts of the northwest region, but at the same time, there will still be a lot of snowfall on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, especially in the southern border areas of Tibet, and some areas may still have heavy snowfall.
The main reason for this change is the deep trough in the upstream westerly wind belt - at 8:00 a.m. on January 6, from the initial field analysis data of the supercomputer, today in the west of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, there is a deep trough maintained, and the air flow in front of this trough is pulling the Indian Ocean water vapor northward, causing strong rain and snow in Afghanistan and other places before, and also causing an increase in snowfall in Xinjiang, Tibet and other places in China.
In fact, in the future, China's Tibet will have more snowfall, and even in the forecast of the Central Meteorological Observatory, it has been pointed out that the town of Jilong in the southern border area of Tibet may have snowfall in the next week, and there will be fierce snow in some periods. This long heavy snow is actually another sign of the atmospheric circulation situation: the low-trough area near the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China will continue to be maintained for some time to come, and the warm and humid water vapor will continue to be induced to go north, which can trigger continuous snowfall.
This is not necessarily a good thing for the Midwest. This is because the supercomputer's prediction believes that the low-trough area that continues to be maintained may eventually develop into a strong south trough in the south branch of the west wind moving eastward, and may be combined with subtropical high pressure to deliver water vapor to the central and eastern parts of China. In this way, once the active water vapor is catalyzed by cold air, it may induce large-scale rain and snow, which is not excluded for many places in the south, which will bring more intense wet and cold weather.
