From January 12th to 13th, the Chinese opera "Song of Youth", produced by the Academy of Opera of Peking University, will be staged at the Beijing Tianqiao Art Center Grand Theater, and will be performed twice by young singers such as Mou Tianxiang, Huang Meng and Lü Yuanjie. The opera "Song of Youth" is adapted from a novel first published by contemporary writer Yang Mo in 1958, and the story is set against the background of the "9.18 Incident" and the "12.9 Movement" experienced by the Japanese invasion of China in the 1930s, and through the growth experience of the heroine Lin Daojing, the classic narrative of revolutionary history is constructed, and the historical inevitability of the growth path of intellectuals is revealed. Composed by Tang Jianping and written by Cao Yong, Wang Xiaoling, Jia Ding and Li Changhong, the opera "Song of Youth" calls on young people not to waste their youth, strive for ideals and beliefs, and inspire today's young people to combine their personal destiny choices with the development of the country and the nation, and maintain the flawlessness and dignity of youth in the face of materials and desires.

Since its premiere in 2009, "Song of Youth" has been widely acclaimed. "The theme music is very important for opera." Tang Jianping recalled that the musical part of the protagonist Lin Daojing was completed first, and arias such as "A New World", "Farewell Forever, The Person I Love", "Who is the glimmer of dawn in my life" were deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and Lu Jiachuan's "Watching Youth China Like a Thin Sunrise" and other musical excerpts have also become the most important arias of the Chinese tenor.

"This performance is already the ninth time we have modified the whole opera, the good things are changed, and every rehearsal we have poured countless efforts, new ideas and new presentations into each rehearsal." Professor Jin Man, the producer of the play, a famous soprano singer and the dean of the Peking University Opera Research Institute, said, "Compared with the performance in 2019, this time, whether it is from the director's style or the addition of music, it has injected new blood into the unchanged 'Song of Youth' theme. ”
