The Zhou Shengjun team of Wuhan University improved the performance of blue and green light reverse MiniLED chips

According to foreign media reports, The research team of Zhou Shengjun of Wuhan University used a full-angle distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) to improve the performance of blue and green light flip-fit MiniLED chips.

According to the report, the research team launched a new full-angle Ti3O5 (pentoxide tripeptide)/SiO2 (silicon dioxide) DBR, which can improve the luminous efficiency of blue and green light flip-fit MiniLED chips, which is of great significance for achieving efficient flip-up blue-green miniLED displays.

The full-angle Ti3O5/SiO2 DBR contains different DBR stacks that are optimized to match the needs of different center wavelengths in the blue, green, and red wavelength regions. Compared with traditional DBR, full-angle Ti3O5/SiO2 DBR reduces the limitation of reflection angle and increases the acceptable range of reflectable wavelengths.

In this study, the research team used highly reflective ITO (indium tin oxide)/DBR and Ag/TiW p-type ohmic contacts to create two blue and green flip-fit MiniLED. Compared to Ag/TiW, the light incidence angle of ITO/DBR is increased from 0° to 60°, so higher reflectivity can be obtained in the wavelength range of 420-580 nm.

The results show that compared with the optical output power of Ag/TiW-based blue and green MiniLED, the optical output power of blue and green MiniLED based on ITO/DBR is increased by about 7.7% and 7.3%, respectively, under the condition of 10mA injection current. At the same time, the full-angle Ti3O5/SiO2 DBR also improves the side light intensity of the flip-chip MiniLED, which is conducive to the mixing of LCD backlight systems.
