An inconspicuous little detail gives us a glimpse of Han Cong and Sui Wenjing's skills

There is a saying that success lies in the grasp of details.

Yesterday was the first media interview day held at the Four Ice Training Base of the Winter Sports Management Center of the State General Administration of Sport in the Shougang Park. Hundreds of reporters from dozens of media walked into this previously mysterious training base and watched a public training session of the figure skating team at zero distance.

The Beijing Winter Olympics figure skating competition lasted from February 5 to February 19, covering almost the entire winter Olympic games, and the competition time was very long. In order to adapt to the characteristics of this competition, the figure skating team began to benchmark the Winter Olympic Games competition time two weeks ago, arranging three exercises a day. Yesterday afternoon's public training session was from 15:30 to 16:30. But when the reporter entered the four-ice training base an hour earlier, two athletes were already warming up on the track outside the training hall. Fixing your eyes on it, it turned out to be the main combination of Han Cong and Sui Wenjing, the main combination of Chinese figure skating pair skating.

At that time, Han Cong was doing a jogging warm-up alone, while Sui Wenjing was sitting on a rubber mat, and the team doctor gave her a simple treatment and massage before training.

In the four small events of figure skating, the combination of China that can impact medals and even gold medals is Han Cong and Sui Wenjing, who shoulder the expectations of the Chinese people, of course, the pressure is also great. However, from the humble small detail of adapting in advance and warming up yesterday, the reporter can feel the maturity and sense of responsibility of the main combination. They know what kind of burden they have on their shoulders, and they know what they should do best as they approach the start of the Winter Olympics.

With this feeling, the reporter walked into the figure skating training hall across the wall. Under the arrangement of head coach Zhao Hongbo, the content of this 1-hour training open class was compact and rich. The content is divided into four parts: the first part is to practice the throwing and jumping action, the second part is to practice the two-person coordination movement, the third part is to train the single movement, and the fourth part is the two-person lifting action exercise.

In the practice of throwing and jumping action, which is very prone to mistakes, Han Cong and Sui Wenjing made two or three weeks of difficult actions, each time achieving success, and it was actually zero mistakes; Peng Cheng and Jin Yang also had a high success rate, and the completion quality of only one throwing and jumping action was not high. After the class, head coach Zhao Hongbo said: At present, the goal of the whole team is to play stably, the success rate should reach 90% to 95%, and strive to complete the two sets of actions with high quality and zero mistakes in the game.

Such a high success rate, if it is said before the training class, the reporter can hardly believe it, but the truth is in front of him.

After watching this open training session of figure skating, the reporter had two gains.

First, I believe what Zhao Hongbo and Peng Cheng and Jin Yang, who were interviewed after class, said: This open training class is a lesson in the recent training class. In other words, the figure skating team is not afraid of mistakes, not afraid of hundreds of media reporters to watch, not to reduce the training difficulty and training intensity of this class, on the contrary, the figure skating team may also take this public training class as a rare team anti-pressure, anti-interference practice opportunity, in order to simulate the environment and atmosphere during the official competition of the Beijing Winter Olympics in advance.

Second, after watching the small details of Han Cong and Sui Wenjing's preparation before training, I knew why their pair was the main combination, and their action success rate in the open class was so high. I think the answer is that there are countless such training sessions that we can't see, before, during and after training sessions, there are all kinds of "details" that the outside world does not know.

And countless such small details constitute what the ancients said: no accumulation of steps, no thousands of miles; no accumulation of small streams, no river and sea.

An open training session gave us an insight into the real combat strength and combat status of figure skating pair skating, one of China's ice and snow advantages, and also increased our confidence in the success of figure skating at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
