Dai Kasa's marriage was actually not happy, and he married his original partner Mao Xiucong in the autumn of 1915, when Dai Kasa was only 19 years old and was a student at the First Normal School in Zhejiang Province. Dai described his wife as a "countryman." It is said that she is very stubborn and rigid, industrious and frugal, upright and unambitious, and willing to live in mediocrity. Although as early as the 1930s, she suspected that Dai Kasa had an affair, she was afraid of him like a tiger, and never dared to argue with him. Eventually because of his affair, they separated. In accordance with his typical practice, Dai Kasa promoted Mao Xiucong's brother Mao Zongliang to the position of chief and appointed him to positions such as managers of cooperatives in various training camps and within the military command, responsible for buying drinks and miscellaneous goods.
Although Dai Kasa was very dependent on Mao Zongliang, he looked down on this brother-in-law, and Mao Zongliang also felt that his sister was the most unfortunate person. After the separation, Mao Xiucong fell ill and died in Shanghai in 1939. Dai's assistants claimed that he was very embarrassed that Dai was playing with women. Every time he took a car out to inspect the secret service station, he was always accompanied by various women, and his retinue was forced to act as an intermediary.
But Dai Kasa was not so casual, and over time, especially later in his life, seemed to become more stable and a little emotionally heavy. At the height of his pre-war activities, he is said to have had two main lovers: Zhao Xialan and Ye Xiadi, who often took them out with him at the same time. For example, whenever the field intelligence group sent an emergency report, Dai Kasa would personally take a car from any place where he was to Nanjing overnight to report to Chiang Kai-shek. In these long-distance night trips, there are usually two drivers who rotate to drive, and Dai Kasa often rests in the middle of Zhao Xialan and Ye Xiadi in the back seat.
Ye Xiadi graduated from the special training class of Zhejiang Police Academy. When she was working as a clerk at the radio school, Dai Kasa took a fancy to her. Once she became the object of Dai's admiration, he decided to let her live in the residence of Yang Hu, the commander of the Shanghai Security Command, and learn a set of upper-class demeanor. Dai Kasa, a close friend of the Yang family and a frequent visitor to the Yang family's Huanlong Road mansion, was envious of the Kuomintang general's ability to gather a large number of women around him to cope with social interactions for him. He was deeply impressed that Yang Hu's mistresses were able to sacrifice their hue and was ordered to give sexual convenience to the general's dignitaries. After Ye Xiadi learned this practice, Dai Kasa arranged for her to go to the United States to study political economy. After she returned to China, he arranged for her to teach at West China University in Chengdu. Later, according to one of the biographers who was most harsh on Dai, Dai Kasa married Ye Xiadi to his best friend Hu Zongnan as his wife.
Whether this incident is true or not is not to be said, but it is a true thing that Dai Kasa married his other mistress, Zhao Xialan, to his friend Wei Daming, director of the Military Command's Telecommunications Department.
In 1940, Dai seduced his English secretary, Yu Shuheng, although the young Hunan woman was already engaged to an important agent of the military command. Dai Kasa said that he wanted to marry Yu, but two years later, after he became obsessed with the movie star Hu Die, he immediately abandoned Yu Shuheng, who was pregnant, by sending her to the United States to study.
Although this may be exaggerated, Dai Kasa was indeed captivated by the actress in the last years of her life. When Dai Kasa fell in love with Hu Die at first sight, Hu Die was already married to Pan Yousheng, a merchant in Shanghai, and under his intervention, Pan Yousheng and Hu Die divorced. The secret agent chief bought a large plot of real estate in Yangjiashan, a suburb of Chongqing, to build a magnificent mansion as a sign of admiration for the metropolis movie star. In the misty evening of Chongqing, General Dai Kasa and his lover would dreamily stroll along the cement road inscribed with the characters "Xi" and "Shou", wandering in the "Fairy Cave" decorated with tropical plants and exotic trees worth tens of thousands of taels of silver.
After Dai's death, Hu Di left Chongqing for Hong Kong, where she was with Pan Yousheng. As for whether she has really become Dai Kasa's lover, there are many opinions, I don't know what netizens think?
