Anders Zorn
(Anders Zorn 1860 - 1920)
Anders (Leonhardt) Zorn, entered the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm in 1875.
After graduating in 1881, he traveled to England, Spain, Italy, France and the Balkans to paint, and during his stay in Paris and London, he was inspired by Impressionist painting and began to study the relationship between light and color. Since then, his pictures have been fresh and clear, and his brushwork is cheerful.
He first entered the painting world as a watercolor painter, with brisk brushwork, clear colors and accurate shapes. Landscapes of the Strait of Gibraltar (1882), The Beggar (1885), Summer Entertainment (1886), And The God of Love (1888) fully reflect his achievements in the field of watercolor painting.
After 1888, he turned to oil painting and soon became a well-known painter in Europe. He is good at depicting objects with broad and bold brushstrokes, pursuing the light sense and color changes of the picture, and the painting method is loose and cheerful.
In 1896 he returned to Mora, bringing new life to the development of Swedish painting. His landscapes and genre paintings (everyday life) usually depict rural Swedish life that he is familiar with. He often chose naked peasant women as his subject.
