Established in 2018, the "Science Exploration Award" is a public welfare award funded by the Tencent Foundation and led by scientists, and is currently one of the highest-amount young scientific and technological talent funding programs in China, jointly initiated by Ma Huateng, Chairman and CEO of Tencent's Board of Directors and Founder of tencent Foundation, and 14 well-known scientists such as Yang Zhenning, Rao Yi, Shi Yigong, Pan Jianwei, Xie Xiaoliang, etc.

From 2022 onwards, the "Science Exploration Award" has a total of 10 fields, including mathematical physics, new chemical materials, astronomy and geoscience, life sciences, medical sciences, information electronics, energy environment, advanced manufacturing, transportation and architecture, frontier intersection, and the number of awards for 50 people per year remains unchanged. Each winner will receive a total of RMB 3 million in prize money over 5 years and will be at your disposal.
This year's Science Exploration Award will be submitted from January 1 to April 15, 2022. Young scientific and technological workers born on or after January 1, 1976 (inclusive), who have obtained a doctorate degree and work full-time in Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, can apply through the official website of the "Science Exploration Award" in accordance with the relevant guidelines. After the submission is completed, the judging committee will conduct an independent review and the winners are expected to be announced in September 2022.

The newly added medical science fields of the Science Exploration Award will include subdivisions of basic medicine, clinical medicine, pharmacy, public health and biomedical engineering, focusing on supporting the following research directions: encouraging young scholars to conduct exploratory research on the nature and laws of disease, and supporting the combination of basic medicine and clinical medicine. Encourage "physician scientists" to carry out innovative research and develop new technologies and new methods of clinical diagnosis and treatment. Encourage the solution of basic scientific problems in pharmaceutical research and development and biomedical engineering.

In November 2021, the results of the 2021 co-election of academicians of the two academies were announced, and Song Baoliang, a professor at Wuhan University and a professor at Peking University, who was the winner of the "Science Exploration Award", and Park Shilong, a professor at Peking University, were successfully elected, and the two were the youngest new academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in their respective faculties.
In the 2022 Science Exploration Award judging, the "Nova Mechanism" will still be retained: under the same conditions, the young one wins. In each of the 10 fields, there will be 5 prize places, and 1 of them will be inclined to applicants aged 35 and under the same conditions under the same conditions.
