36 years ago, the Year of the Tiger. "People's Pictorial", No. 1, 1986, published the article "Interesting Talk in the Year of the Tiger" by Mr. Lian Xiaochun, photo: Lu Shan.
Before his death, Mr. Lian Xiaochun was the Secretary-General of the China Folk Crafts Professional Committee and the former Director of the Art Department of the Arts and Crafts Corporation of the Ministry of Light Industry. She is one of the pioneers in the study of folk crafts and folk art in China. In 1985, after Mr. Lian Xiaochun became seriously ill, Mr. Xu Ping (dean of the Graduate School of the Central Academy of Fine Arts), who was currently a graduate student, listened carefully to Mr. Lian Xiaochun's dictations and recorded them one by one on several sleepless nights before her deathbed, and then published the book "Chinese Folk Crafts" in 1989, written by Lian Xiaochun and Xu Ping. In addition, Mr. Zhang Daoyi and Mr. Lian Xiaochun also jointly wrote the important work "Beauty in the Folk".

People's Pictorial, Cover of Issue 1, 1986
Mr. Lu Shan is a photojournalist and chief editor of People's Pictorial. In the 1980s, the national language editions of the People's Pictorial and the folk art theme texts in the China Pictorial (overseas edition) were all published by Mr. Lu Shan to introduce Chinese folk art to the world. Another identity of Mr. Lu Shan, he is the son-in-law of the famous Peking Opera performance artist Mr. Zhang Junqiu, that is, the husband of Ms. Zhang Xueling, a famous old Dan of the Beijing Opera House.
From 1980 to 1988, I was engaged in the research of folk art, and I was deeply cared for by Mr. Lu Shan, and I met with him many times for the research of folk art in the "People's Pictorial Agency" in Beijing's Garden Village and Mr. Lu Shan's home on Qiansanmen Avenue. From 1986 to 1988, his articles on folk art and folk art research were published in China Pictorial, People's Daily, etc., all of which were composed and recommended by Mr. Lu Shan.
The picture shows Dr. Wei Zhizi obtained from a library network information, and there are traces left by posterity on the picture. Although it is not as clear as the paper journal of People's Pictorial, as a top national periodical that distributes more than 10 languages around the world, today's young people, art teachers, etc. have not yet seen this pictorial.
Instructional design on folk art themes
More than 8 years ago, in 2013, he led graduate students to teach art classes on folk art themes. At that time, he arranged for graduate student Zhang Xinyue (now an art teacher at a primary school in Hangzhou) to inquire about Mr. Lian Xiaochun's articles in the library of Zhejiang Normal University, as well as the folk art works of the Tiger Culture Series taken by Mr. Lu Shan that year.
In 2022, another Year of the Tiger arrived, and the teaching design of Teacher Zhang Xinyue was published that year, it can be seen that this teaching design idea is consistent with the direction and goal of the core literacy-based art unit curriculum.
The original design text was published in Art Teaching Design and Courseware Production, by Li Lijia, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press, 2014 edition.

Folk Art: Cloth Tiger Picture Information, Author: Hao Guijun, etc
In the 1980s, the work was designed by Hao Guijun, an arts and crafts artist from Weifang City, Shandong Province, and this shape is typical of the cloth tiger. At present, the "Go to the Folk - Pan Lusheng Folk Art Exhibition" is being held at the National Museum of China, and this modeling work is collected by Mr. Pan Lusheng, vice chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, chairman of the China Folk Writers Association, chairman of the Shandong Provincial Federation of Literature and Art, and president of the Shandong Academy of Arts and Crafts

These cloth tigers are all materials for instructional design applications
There are also a number of picture materials, my principle is that the teaching design of folk art direction, when selecting materials, we must strive for original, relatively more original work pictures.
Teacher Zhang Xinyue's 2013 teaching design PPT decomposition chart
From the image of the real tiger in life to introduce the image decomposition: Why has the image of the tiger been advocated by both the people and the official family for thousands of years since ancient times?
Guide students to identify in a string of questions
It turned out to be a cute "cloth tiger"
Image decomposition: Guide students to visually identify, find out: how did the "fierceness" of the tiger become "cute"?
Look at the tiger's eyes first, how has the shape changed?
The change of different forms of tiger features is the basic factor in the shape of folk cloth toys, and then look at the changes in tiger noses.
The tiger's mouth is made up of these wires to form this form
The tiger's ears are also changing Below is another cloth tiger's shape decomposition
Exaggerated and decorative techniques are used
These changes, presented by animation, are presented to you in the form of screenshots at this moment
The morphological image decomposition of the five facial features of the tiger head helps students to establish the visual aesthetic value orientation in identifying how to change
The PPT made by Teacher Zhang Xinyue more than 8 years ago is still very exciting today, in order to improve the visual aesthetic perception level of students, it can be described as well-intentioned.
The construction of each student's visual aesthetic values needs to help students identify with the aesthetic orientation and ingenuity of the common people through such guidance.
The following is a breakdown of Hao Guijun's works:
How is the shape of this cloth tiger structured?
Enlarge the image, decompose deeply, and summarize and concise the form
Concentrate on decomposing the colors of the work
The color used for the largest area in the entire pattern
Bright red enters
The embellishment of black is the core concept contained in the work (meaning interpretation)
Bu Laohu pinned his Chinese yearning for a better life
The elders turned into folk "artists" and often used brave tigers to protect their children.
Share with the teachers the core literacy-based art unit curriculum design according to the theme
Unit Theme Design: Year of the Tiger Says Tiger
Li Lijia
Big Idea:
◆ Zodiac culture is the main component of traditional Chinese culture, pinning on renmei's yearning for a better life.
◆ Tigers have a great place in China's cultural history.
(1) In Chinese culture, the tiger is regarded as the king of the hundred beasts, and it is a symbol of strength and majesty.
(2) Chinese formed a cult of tiger totem very early.
◆ "Taking the tiger as a metaphor, the tiger wei town, the five poisons of the tiger town, and the tiger and the tiger are alive" is the spiritual sustenance of the people
(1) From ancient times to the present, from the people's homes to the official families, there are people who use the image of the tiger to convey love and blessings.
The image of the tiger reflects ideals and attachments, and the image of the tiger is used to mark the various spiritual phenomena of rights.
(2) In ancient times, the words of the tiger metaphor and the character of the person are all lovely to hear. The literati created a font called "Tiger Book", and doctors created a fitness technique called "Tiger Play".
Basic questions:
1. Why is there so much use of the tiger as a metaphor in Chinese characters?
(1) How many words and phrases can you say in the metaphor of the tiger?
(2) Rural flower cutters have never seen a tiger, and when commenting on a superbly cut tiger window flower, they will sigh: "It's really cut!" Why? What kind of "true" and "good" are the flowers cutters in their hearts?
2. Why are there so many folk crafts in the shape of tigers?
(1) Tiger head shoes, tiger head hats, tiger pillows, etc., why do people worship tiger totems so much?
(2) Why is the folk admiration for tigers often presented in the form of paper cuts or drawings?
3. When and what function does the tiger-shaped face flower (flower bun) do?
(1) Why should there be a pair of big-faced tigers in the dowry of brides in the Guanzhong region?
(2) Why is there still a custom of giving a bride a tiger a face around her neck?
The consistency of teaching-learning-evaluation is achieved by knowing-understanding-doing paradigms to achieve learning validity in the unit curriculum

The beautiful Year of the Tiger is coming, just this text to commemorate Mr. Lian Xiaochun, thank You Mr. Lu Shan, President Xu Ping and others for their guidance in the folk art research work.
Taking the screenshot of Zhang Xinyue's teaching design PPT in 2013 as a "brick", and striving to design more and better art courses for the cultivation and construction of students' visual aesthetic values based on the core literacy goal requirements and for the improvement of students' aesthetic education literacy based on the national "Compulsory Education Art Curriculum Standards (2021 Edition)".
