According to the obituary of the Department of Chinese And Literature of Sun Yat-sen University on the morning of January 4, Luo Xishi, a retired professor of the department, died in Guangzhou at 15:50 on January 2 due to illness at the age of 85. Nandu reporter learned that Luo Xishi also served as the head of the department of Chinese of Xinhua College of Sun Yat-sen University, and widely planted peach and plum, which promoted the development of Chinese disciplines.

Luo Xishi was born in July 1937 in Xingning, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province. In July 1959, he graduated from the Department of Chinese Chinese And Chinese Literature of Sun Yat-sen University, and stayed in the department to teach, and was the director of the Department of Ancient Chinese Literature of the Department of Chinese Chinese And Literature, and the head of the Department of Chinese of Xinhua College of Sun Yat-sen University. He retired in September 1998.

Luo Xishi is mainly devoted to the teaching and research of ancient Chinese literature and rhyme literature. He has participated in the editing of "Selected Poems of Wang Anshi", co-authored "Commentary on the Different Selections of Liaozhai Zhi", "New Commentaries on the Two Hundred Pieces of Liaozhai Zhiyi", "Selected Songs of Yuanshan", "Essence of Yuanming Scattered Songs", "Readings of Ancient Texts", "Enlightenment of Ancient Ballads and Proverbs", "Concise History of Chinese Literature", "History of Literature of the Southern and Northern Dynasties of Wei, Jin, Sui, Tang, and Northern Dynasties", etc., and has contributed a number of important achievements to the academic circles.

According to the Department of Chinese of CUHK, Luo Xishi is deeply rooted in scholarship, has a broad vision, a simple and rigorous learning style, integrity, humility and sincerity, and is deeply loved by teachers and students and respected by the academic community. "The unfortunate death of Professor Luo Xishi is not only a major loss to the Department of Chinese And Speech of Sun Yat-sen University, but also a major loss to the research community of ancient Chinese literature and rhyme literature.
