Two escape struggles in Lushun Prison

In August 1937, Zhai Qingping, former secretary of the party branch of the Manteel North Railway Station, and Wang Qihuan, secretary of the party branch of Dalian Xiehe Industrial School, were imprisoned in Lushun Prison. They used every opportunity to propagate the Party's ideas to their fellow prisoners and infiltrate revolutionary doctrines. Ning Xuexian developed into a communist party member with the help of the two. In the early autumn of 1940, in accordance with the principle of organization, Wang Qihuan, Zhai Qingping, and Ning Xuexian secretly established the "Party Branch in Prison," with Wang Qihuan as secretary, Zhai Qingping as an organizing committee member, and Ning Xuexian as a propaganda committee member, leading the refugees to carry out an organized and planned struggle in prison.

In the summer of 1938, underground party members in the Russo-Japanese prison in Lushun began to plan the escape struggle. When the prison authorities organized a collective bath, several underground party members stunned the guards in the bathhouse, handed over their weapons, disguised themselves as Japanese guards, mixed with the gate, knocked the guards to the ground, and led everyone to escape from prison en masse. Two escapees were killed on the spot, and those who were captured were tortured.

In October 1944, the party branch in prison organized some of the prisoners who were serving as workers to escape from prison, and after stabbing the guards to death with scissors, they quickly opened the north gate and rushed out of the cage. With no external connections, and their usual lack of food and illness, those who escaped were quickly taken back to prison. The party branch in prison organized the escape struggle between the former servants and the successors, showing the spirit of resistance of the imprisoned Communists in the face of the Japanese invaders who preferred to die.
