Under these circumstances, Li Shimin could not continue to defend Xue Wanche, so he was removed from his name and exiled to a remote area. It was not until Li Shimin's death and Li Zhi's succession to the throne that Xue Wanche returned to Chang'an and served as the Assassin of Ningzhou in 651. It may be that this exile incident annoyed Xue Wanche, or he was only secretly calculated by the eldest grandson Wujie, in short, in the subsequent Fang Yi Ai conspiracy case, there was Xue Wanche's figure.
When he returned to the dynasty in 652, he had a close love with Fang Xuanling's second son, Princess Gaoyang's horse fang, and his words were often dissatisfied with the imperial court, and he even agreed with Fang Hui'ai to support Li Yuanjing, the King of Jing. After Fang Yi'ai's counter-rebellion case was discovered by Changsun Wujie, Xue Wanche was caught, but he did not admit that he was involved in the rebellion, but after Fang Yi'ai confessed to him, he had to admit his crime.
