French cross-Chinese New Year's Eve has also appeared "burning car tradition"! 874 cars were burned

Paris, France

France's interior ministry said on Jan. 1 that during the cross-Chinese New Year's Eve, a total of 874 cars were burned in France and 441 people were detained for disrupting order.

According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, CNN and other media reported on the 1st, French Interior Minister Damanien said on the same day that during the trans-Chinese New Year's Eve in France this year, 441 people were detained for disrupting order, and 874 cars were burned. He also mentioned that the number of vehicles burned and attacking police officers has decreased compared to previous years due to the epidemic restrictions. For example, in 2019, the number of cars burned in France was as high as 1316.

Since the 1990s, the practice of burning cars has become popular among young people in poor communities in France, and this behavior is particularly common across Chinese New Year's Eve. In France, mass burning of parked vehicles has become a deplorable "tradition", with hundreds of cars burning almost every year on new Chinese New Year's Eve.
