Every peasant uprising in China basically occurred at a time when dynasties were in decline and power was being fought for. But this time, the Boxer Rebellion, which took place in the late Qing Dynasty, was an armed movement against foreign invaders. The boxers put forward the slogan of "supporting the Qing Dynasty and destroying the foreigners", such a simple patriotic feeling, because the limitations of the class were still not realized. The Boxers were very loosely organized, with their own rules in each place, and they were just a slogan. Because the members are all people at the bottom of society, they have no cultural insight. Faced with the guns and shells of the foreigners, the Boxers thought that the way to do it was to drink the water, believing that as long as they drank this magical water, they would be able to avoid the sword and gun. The Boxers would also pour dog blood on foreigners to defeat evil. The final outcome also shows that these practices are ineffective.
In the face of foreign invaders, the Qing government's bones were very soft, and the Boxers would not be like this. The boxers were founded because of conflicts with foreign churches. In 1899, a conflict between the Catholics and the Chinese people broke out in Shandong Province, and the Parishioners seized the local houses, let them lose money, and tried to seize the fertile land. How could the Chinese people agree that fierce clashes had erupted between the two sides. The most unexpected thing is that the local parent officials actually sent officers and soldiers to suppress ordinary people and protect foreigners and teachers without distinction between right and wrong. In the end, the common people broke out, beating the Qing soldiers and the foreigner instructors to pieces.
Because of this incident, ordinary people saw their own strength, and they also made up their minds to eliminate the foreigners. Unfortunately, the Boxers were limited by class and could not see that the real problem in China was not foreigners, but that the most fundamental problem in China was to overthrow the backward and decadent feudal dynasty. The Boxers did not understand the essence, and they believed that they should maintain the Qing government and drive out foreign invaders. It was also because of the Boxers that the Eight-Power Alliance's war of aggression against China broke out, and Cixi also declared war on foreign countries. This time the war was lost, and the Qing government signed the Treaty of Xinugu.
The Boxers were not only low-level people, but also many women. They are known as "red light illumination" and are headed by the holy daughter Lin Hei'er. Because from ancient times to the present, women are considered to be filthy, and it is best to overcome evil spirits. When the woman with the red light faced the foreign invaders, she was full of confidence, and as a result, she was killed by the foreigners. Feudal ignorance is really enough to harm people, let them lose their lives in vain.
Since the Boxer Rebellion was a movement against foreigners, the Qing government of course agreed. At first, the Qing government actively supported the Boxers to attack the foreigners, and later even declared war on the Boxers and the foreigners. The invaders were worried that they could not find an excuse to send troops to the Qing government, and with this reason, they united with eight countries to attack Beijing. When Beijing fell, Cixi immediately turned her gun and joined the coalition forces in capturing the Boxers.
At that time, when the Eight-Nation Alliance entered Beijing, there were cameramen accompanying them, recording the true face of the Boxers. Most of the Boxers practiced boxing, and this picture shows men naked, armed with their weapons posing in what they thought was the coolest.
