"Thank you, you gave my child a second life, you are all his mothers." December 31, 2021, is not only the last day of 2021, but also the 98th day of the birth of Baoshan new student Xiao Keyi. With gratitude to all the medical staff, Xiao Keyi's mother came to the Neonatology Department of the Second People's Hospital of Baoshan City with her child in her arms, and let Xiao Keyi and his doctors and mothers welcome the New Year together.

"Tomorrow is the New Year of 2022, I hope my children grow up healthily under your care and have a better future." Watching the child grow up day by day, Xiao Keyi's mother's eyes were full of hope.
27-week-old ultra-premature baby
On September 19, 2021, Xiao Keyi, who had only been in his mother's womb for 27 weeks, was born at the Second People's Hospital of Baoshan City.
For a normal child, the first sound that comes into the world must be a cry of "wow wow wow", and breathing is smooth while crying, as if declaring "I have come to this world". However, for Xiao Keyi, the first day he came to the world was tested, he belonged to the ultra-premature baby, weighed only 1.15Kg at birth, the whole body length is only a little larger than the adult's slap, whether he can breathe on his own is a big problem.
According to Jiang Yanhong, director of the neonatology department of the hospital, preterm birth refers to the birth of the fetus before 37 weeks of pregnancy. According to the gestational age, preterm infants can also be classified as late preterm infants (34 to 36+ 6 weeks), intermediate preterm infants (32 to 33 + 6 weeks), very preterm infants (28 to 31 + 6 weeks) and ultrapreterm infants (less than 28 weeks). According to the classification of birth weight, preterm infants can be divided into low birth weight (weight less than 2500 g), very low birth weight (weight less than 1500 g) and ultra-low birth weight (weight less than 1000 g).
First admission of a 27-week-old ultra-premature baby
In the Second People's Hospital of Baoshan City, although the neonatal department treats many premature babies, there are 30 weeks, 29 weeks, 28 weeks... But 27 weeks of little Ke Yi is still the first time.
This is a difficult problem, but it also faces great risks. Accepting it means that a living little life has been handed over to everyone's hands, how to save it? How to cure it? Premature infants are immature in tissues and organs, have poor adaptability to the outside world, are prone to various complications, and have a high mortality rate, and the risk of serious disability in survivors is also high. At the same time, the gastrointestinal tract of premature babies is extremely immature, feeding is undoubtedly a very serious problem, for ultra-preterm infants with a gestational age of only 27 weeks, the difficulty of treatment is much more difficult than the general.
Faced with a series of difficulties, Jiang Yanhong, director of the department, did not hesitate.
harvest!
As a result, Xiao Keyi was handed over to the neonatology team.
70 days to break through the "three levels"
After being admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit, the treatment team led by Jiang Yanhong began to discuss, and the top priority was to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan.
Everyone needs to help Xiao Keyi go through the levels. Respiratory barrier, intracranial hemorrhage, nutrition, infection, internal environmental disorders... The success or failure of any of these links is directly related to whether Xiao Keyi can survive and the quality of life in the later stage.
Through the discussion, we formulated a phased and phased diagnosis and treatment and nursing plan according to the main problems and management points of the ultra-preterm infants at different stages.
The first challenge: building an intravenous channel. This is the lifeline of Xiao Keyi, but the blood vessels of ultra-premature babies are as thin as hair, which requires medical staff to have rich puncture experience. Xiao Keyi was lucky, and soon his venous passage was opened, and a stream of dark red blood slowly flowed up the intravenous infusion tube, and Xiao Keyi's fountain of life began.
The second problem: helping to get through the breathing difficulties. Healthcare workers develop lung protective ventilation strategies, infusing the trachea with pulmonary surfactant, intermittent positive pressure ventilation through the nose, and caffeine for apnea. After continuous efforts, after 29 days, Xiao Keyi's respiratory circulation function was stable, and the non-invasive ventilator was deactivated.
The third challenge: helping to get through the nutrition barrier. The medical staff always guarded Xiao Keyi's side, closely observing and carefully analyzing each test indicator. We developed a detailed enteral feeding plan based on the baby's gestational age, birth weight, and digestive system function after birth. The nursing staff of the department first used a cotton swab to dip breast milk and carefully applied it to the baby's mouth, carried out colostrum oral immunotherapy, and then carried out micro-feeding, nasal feeding, oral feeding, parenteral nutrition and enteral nutrition, Xiao Keyi slowly passed the feeding pass.
Careful care allows children to grow up healthily
For 70 days, the neonatal medical team sorted out Xiao Keyi's respiratory system, circulatory system, nervous system, digestive system, internal environment, etc. in detail every day, and formulated the treatment, monitoring focus and goals to be achieved for each system.
During the hospitalization, the department specially formulated "bird's nest care" and "kangaroo care" for children in the later stage. With everyone's efforts, Xiao Keyi's condition slowly stabilized, and after 70 days, the child's weight grew to 2.19kg. When the medical staff handed the child into the hands of the parents, Xiao Keyi's parents had mixed feelings, the mother held the child tightly in her arms, and the father held the hand of the medical staff and was reluctant to let go.
After Xiao Keyi was discharged from the hospital, the medical staff insisted on weekly outpatient follow-up. He and his mother also returned to the hospital to give pennants to the medical staff.
December 31, 2021 is the 98th day that Xiao Ke Yi came to this world, and at present, Xiao Ke Yi has grown to 3.5 kg and has reached a length of 52 cm. Growth and development have been comparable to those of newborns aged 1 week at the right day.
The world is beautiful, there is always a pair of hands to support life!
This is a world with temperatures
Little Ke Yi
Please grow up healthy!
