After raising fish for a long time, it will slowly feel tasteless, and even some dissatisfaction. As a result, these whimsical aquarists began to look down on fish farming and slowly discover other aquarium pets. Among the many breeds of aquarium pets, there is such a type of pet, that is, ornamental crabs! Ornamental crabs are also one of the emerging aquarium pets in recent years.
When you think of crabs, you think of two hairy claws, eight large legs scattered around the fish tank, and the eyeballs the size of millet. Crabs may only be blue in our impression, but you may not know, in fact, crabs also have ornamental varieties, and these ornamental varieties are particularly good to raise, is this not a gift from nature?
The ornamental crab family is also as large as the ornamental fish family, and the size, posture and color of the species are very diverse. Of course, it is impossible for each breed to be so skinny and easy to raise, in fact, ornamental crabs also have a high degree of feeding difficulty, so how do we start raising crabs from the entry-level feeding difficulty? Below I recommend two kinds of ornamental crabs that look good and are better than fish.

Pepper Crab – Temper and name opposite

The pepper crab is one of the most famous species of ornamental crabs. The overall color of the pepper crab is red, just like the chili pepper, hence the name. His biggest feature is that he can be raised in deep water, and he does not need to come up to breathe, but the oxygen in the water must be sufficient, otherwise he will also die under the water. Pepper crabs are small, less aggressive, do not eat aquatic weeds, and occasionally clean up feed debris or biological carcasses at the bottom of fish tanks, without being picky.
Pepper crab is particularly skinny and easy to raise, usually the temperature should not be too low, do not exceed 31 degrees, as long as there is aerobic equipment can easily raise it. It is also very resistant to hunger, and can generally be fed once and then last for two to three weeks without feeding, or one month a week. If we do not use deep water rearing, we can also use shallow water over the back feeding, it is best to put some more stones to expose the water, so that it can go ashore to spit bubbles for ventilation, and there is no need to rely on oxygen in the water.
This kind of ornamental crab that does not eat fish, does not eat grass, and cleans the function of the fish tank can be said to be the first choice for the grass tank ornamental crab.

Vietnamese Hook Hand Crab – Big and Small Hands

One of the biggest characteristics of the Vietnamese hook crab, and at the same time the most conspicuous, is his large and small pincers. It's not a deformity, it's innate. Large pincers are generally used to hold prey and control it to death. The small pliers are like knives and forks tearing food into the mouth little by little. This kind of crab is relatively large, and it is more dependent on air, so generally we feed it alone over the back, and then put a sponge or some stepping material to let it come up to the water surface to change the water, so that feeding is the most appropriate.
Vietnamese hook-and-neck crabs can be fed to small fish that have died at home, or they can be fed live fish directly. But crabs are carnivorous and generally don't eat vegetables, so don't let him eat vegetarian. Vietnamese hook hand crab is still relatively not picky eaters, fish, shrimp, bread worms and other foods he loves, usually pay attention to water quality cleaning. He is more similar to the pepper crab, does not need to be fed often, easy to take care of, worry-free!
Here I would like to tell you a little cold knowledge, crabs have a strong ability to regenerate, so their broken pliers or legs will grow back after several shells. Speaking of crabs will lose their shells, so the water that raises him must be hard, which is more conducive to the development of crab shells.
If you also like to raise ornamental fish, you may wish to start pointing out a point of attention, all you need to know about fish farming is here.
