The lead-acid battery on our ordinary family car is not to be discussed, which is definitely not as good as the battery on these electric vehicles.
Let's talk about the principle of charge and discharge of lead-acid batteries on our family cars, which is the active substance on the internal positive and negative plate, and the electrochemical reaction with the electrolyte to achieve charge and discharge.
However, low temperatures will lead to an increase in the viscosity of the electrolyte in the battery and an increase in the resistance to the movement of the ions.
In addition, the spongy lead stage on the negative plate can easily become a small size grain, so that the small holes on the plate are blocked or frozen, thereby greatly reducing the utilization rate of active substances.
This will make the discharge rate of the negative electrode plate much smaller than the discharge rate of the positive plate, which will eventually lead to a decrease in the overall capacity of the battery, which is what we call the loss of power.
This downward trend starts at about 25 ° C, and for every degree of reduction, the battery capacity of the car will be reduced by 0.8% to 1.5%.
But some models, especially some Japanese family cars themselves, have very small batteries, only 45Ah or even 36Ah, coupled with the reduction of capacity caused by low temperatures, the battery is prone to power loss.
And every time the battery loses electricity, its total capacity will drop by another 20%, and this is an irreversible decline! A battery loses about four or five times of electricity, and the battery is completely scrapped.
This is also why the old brother who claims that a battery can be used for ten years is basically a southerner.
Second, after a failed start, the repeated start without interval will damage the battery.
I believe that many brothers will instinctively make a second or even third start attempt immediately after failing to start the car for the first time, but this is a very, very wrong approach!
This will lead to the original loss of electricity to the battery, in a short period of time a large number of discharges to aggravate the degree of power loss of the battery, but will cause irreversible damage to the battery, so that the original battery is directly scrapped.
The correct approach should be to wait more than 15 seconds after the first unsuccessful boot, and then twist the key to power on, but do not start.
If it is a one-click start model, you can double-click the start button, but do not step on the brake pedal.
The reason for this is because in this state the vehicle's fuel supply lines will be fully established, oil pressure, and more adequate preparation for igniting the engine, a process that takes 5 seconds before attempting to start the vehicle.
Even if it is still impossible to start successfully, the process of trying to start should not exceed 5 seconds, otherwise it will still damage the battery of the car, or even start the machine.
After trying this three times, if it still can't be started, I personally recommend that you try to repair the battery, which is the so-called constant voltage current limit charging method.
The battery charger will keep the charging voltage constant at about 14.5 volts, and then repair the battery with different amperes and different durations.
This can minimize the loss of the capacity of the battery, generally in the repair shop to charge a charge about 50 yuan, but it does not rule out that the repair shop will directly fool you to change the battery situation.
And buying a battery charger yourself only needs about 200 yuan, and it can be used repeatedly, which is much more cost-effective than directly replacing a battery.
Third, the wrong car habits will lead to battery power loss.
Most of the new cars now are one-click start models, and the biggest difference between it and the traditional mechanical key switch models is that when the car is turned off, you think the car is powered off, but in fact, it is not.
I took my car for a little test, and the appliances, stereos, lights, and even the blower for the air conditioner were still working after the engine was turned off.
If I am waiting on the side of the road at this time, this person happens to be a person who loves to be late, and I don't want to get off because it is too cold outside in winter.
Then these electrical appliances in the car will continue to consume the power of the car's battery, which may lead to battery loss.
Of course, one-button start models will generally be equipped with intelligent power programs, and after 3 to 5 minutes of turning off, they will cut off the electrical power in the car, leaving enough power for the next start.
However, in case the car battery has reached the limit of life, after all, everyone's car habits and environment are different, we can't know whether the car's battery is still the last breath left, then it is likely to be left on the side of the road, unable to start!
