Musk said that in the worst case, SpaceX will send humans to Mars within 10 years!

Elon Musk said that in the worst case scenario, SpaceX will send humans to Mars 10 years later with its Starship rocket.

In a Lex Friedman podcast released Tuesday, Friedman asked Musk when he thought SpaceX would land humans on Mars.

After a 20-second pause, the billionaire replied, "The best case scenario is about 5 years, and the worst case scenario is 10 years."

Musk told Friedman that the deciding factors included "designing the launch vehicle," adding, "The Starship is the most complex and advanced rocket ever built." ”

Musk told Friedman on the podcast: "The basic optimization of Starship is to minimize the cost per ton of entry into Mars orbit, and ultimately to minimize the cost per ton of reaching the surface of Mars."

Musk told Friedman that no one can currently fly a trillion dollars to Mars. "No amount of money can buy a ticket to Mars," he said on the podcast.

The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla predicted different dates for his company to arrive and land on the Red Planet.

In an interview with the audio app Clubhouse in February, Musk said SpaceX's Starship rocket manned mission would take "five and a half years" to land on the Red Planet.

In March, Musk tweeted that his aerospace company would land its Starship rocket on Mars by 2030.

Experts previously told Insider that if none of the three remaining launches by 2026 go as planned, it could take longer than he expected.

Musk eventually plans to build 1,000 Starship rockets and launch 3 a day to send 1 million people to Mars.
