When he was young, his family was poor, and he and his father sold white porridge for a living, and when he was a little older, he worked as a domestic servant for the landlord.
In 1924, he was given the title of captain of a "bandit squad", and then grew bigger little by little, and in 1938, he became the commander of the third column of the Eighth Theater of Operations, with the rank of major general.
Yuan Dai was a cruel man, often killing people according to his own preferences, neither knowing his crime, nor reporting it upwards, known as the "Zhongshan Killer King", and had a poor reputation in the local area.
Moreover, like many warlords, Yuan Dai wantonly smuggled and opened tobacco, gambling, and brothels in his own territory, indiscriminately collected "grass tickets," set up checkpoints, extorted "water bills," and so on.
