
Ibrahimovic has been named Ligue 1 Player of the Year three times
The Ligue 1 Player of the Year Award was launched by the French Professional Players' Union in 1994, and former international David Ginola, who played for Paris Saint-Germain at the time in 1993/94, became the first player to win. Portuguese striker Pauletta is the first player to win the award twice, while Swedish striker Ibrahimovic is the first to win the award three times. Only 9 of the winning players are from France, and the rest are foreign players.
1993/94 season
David Ginola, from ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, made 38 appearances in Ligue 1 in 1993/94, scoring 13 goals.
1994/95 season
Vincent Guérin is the second French player to win and the second Paris Saint-Germain player to win the award. In the 1994/95 ligue 1 season, he made 30 appearances and scored 2 goals.
1995/96 season
Zinedine Zidane, the third French player to receive the award, is from Bordeaux. In the 1995/96 Ligue 1 season, he made 33 appearances and scored 6 goals.
1996/97 season
Sonny Anderson, a Brazilian striker, is the first foreign player to receive this award, from that year's Ligue 1 champions Monaco. In the 1996/97 Ligue 1 season, he made 34 appearances and scored 19 goals.
1997/98 season
Marco Simone, the second foreign player to receive the award, is also the third Paris Saint-Germain player to receive the award. In the 1997/98 ligue 1 season, he made 28 appearances and scored 13 goals.
1998/99 season
Ali Benarbia, Algerian midfielder. He is the third foreign player to receive the award, the second player from Bordeaux after Zidane, and as a midfielder of the 1998/99 Ligue 1 champions he made 25 appearances and scored three goals.
1999/00 season
Marcelo Gallardo, an Argentine midfielder, is the 4th foreign player to receive the award and the 2nd Monaco player to receive the award. In the 1999/00 season, he made 28 appearances for Ligue 1 champions Monaco, scoring 8 goals.
2000/01 season
Éric Carrière, the fourth French player to receive the award, came from that year's champion Nantes. In the 2000/01 Ligue 1 season, he made 33 appearances and scored 5 goals.
2001/02, 2002/03 seasons
Pauleta, a Portuguese striker, was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year in 2001/02 and 2002/03, and he is the third Bordeaux player to receive this award. In 2001/02 Ligue 1, he made 33 appearances, scoring 22 goals, the Golden Boot of Ligue 1, and in 2002/03 Ligue 1 made 37 appearances, scoring 23 goals.
2003/04 season
Didier Drogba, an Ivorian striker, is the 6th foreign player to receive the award, from Marseille. In the 2003/04 Ligue 1 season, he made 35 appearances and scored 19 goals.
2004/05 season
Michael Essien, Ghanaian midfielder. He is the 7th foreign player to receive this award, from the Ligue 1 champions Lyon. In the 2004/05 Ligue 1 season, he made 37 appearances and scored 4 goals.
2005/06 season
Juninho, Brazilian midfielder. He is the 8th foreign player to receive this award, the 2nd Brazilian player to win after Sony Anderson and the 2nd from Lyon. In the 2005/06 Ligue 1 season, he made 32 appearances and scored 9 goals.
2006/07 season
Florent Malouda, the fifth French player to receive the award, is also the third player from Lyon. In the 2006/07 Ligue 1 season, he made 35 appearances and scored 10 goals.
2007/08 season
Karim Benzema, the 6th French player to receive the award, is also the 4th player from Lyon. In the 2007/08 Ligue 1 season, he made 36 appearances and scored 20 goals, helping Lyon to a four-time victory.
2008/09 season
Yoann Gourcuff, the 7th French player to receive the award, is also the 4th player from Bordeaux. In the 2008/09 Ligue 1 season, he made 37 appearances and scored 12 goals. On loan from AC Milan that season, he won the Ligue 1 title.
2009/10 season
Lisandro López, an Argentine striker, is the 9th foreign player to receive this award, the 2nd player from Argentina and the 5th from Lyon, making 33 appearances in 2009/10 and scoring 15 goals.
2010/11, 2011/12 seasons
Eden Hazard, belgian midfielder, is the second player after Paulletta to win the award and the 10 foreign players to receive the award. From Lille, he made 38 appearances in Ligue 1 in 2010/11, scoring seven goals and winning the Ligue 1 Best Young Player award, and in the 2011/12 Ligue 1 appearances, he scored 20 goals.
2012/13, 2013/14 seasons
Zlatan Ibrahimović, a Swedish striker, is the third player to win the award in a row and the fourth Paris Saint-Germain player to receive the award. In the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons he won the Ligue 1 title in Paris. He made 34 appearances and scored 30 goals in Ligue 1 in 2012/13 and 26 goals in 33 appearances in Ligue 1 in 2013/14, winning two Ligue 1 Golden Boots.
2014/15 season
Alexandre Lacazette, the 8th French player to receive the award, is also the 6th player from Lyon. 2014/15 Ligue 1 Golden Boot, 27 goals in 33 games.
2015/16 season
Zlatan Ibrahimović, who became the first player to win the award three times, won four consecutive league titles in 2015/16 while Ibrahimovic scored 38 goals in 31 Ligue 1 games and the Third Ligue 1 Golden Boot.
2016/17 season
Edinson Cavani, Uruguayan striker, is the 12th foreign player to receive the award and the 5th player from Paris Saint-Germain, making 36 appearances in Ligue 1 in 2016/17, scoring 35 goals and winning the Ligue 1 Golden Boot.
2017/18 season
Neymar, he is the 13th foreign player to receive this award, the third Brazilian player to receive this honor after Sony Anderson and Juninho, and the 6th player from Paris Saint-Germain. Winner of Ligue 1 in 2017/18, he scored 20 goals in 19 league games.

2018/19, 2020/21 seasons
Kylian Mbappé is the 9th French player to receive the award and the 7th Paris Saint-Germain player to receive the award. In 2018/19, Ligue 1 made 29 appearances, scored 33 goals, winning the Ligue 1 title, the Ligue 1 Golden Boot and the Ligue 1 Best Young Player Award, and in the 2020/21 Ligue 1 season, he made 31 appearances and scored 27 goals, winning the Ligue 1 Golden Boot for the third time.
