According to the "Zoutang Zheng Clan Genealogy", Zoutang Green Peel Pear has a long history. According to legend, in the thirty-fifth year of Ming Jiajing (1556), the eleventh Zheng Min zhongjin of the Zoutang Zheng clan, transplanted Cangxi Sydney pears from Sichuan to his hometown in the ninth year of the Wanli Calendar (1581) when he was an envoy to Sichuan, and if true (there is no way to verify), it has been more than 400 years.
Zoutang green peel pear is a genus of rose pears in the family Rosaceae, a species of sand pear. Its shape resembles its ancestor, Sichuan Cangxi Sydney, and is a bit apple-shaped. The green peel pear strip in the "Fruit Tree Cultivation" published by Guangdong Science and Technology Publishing House records this: "The green skin pear is produced in Zoutang Township, Jieyang County. The fruit type is round or nearly egg-shaped, and is still blue after ripening, the flesh is tender and tender, the taste is sweet and juicy, and it is suitable for processing and canning. ”
Zoutang green peel pear blossoms and bears fruit in spring, and the ripening time is in the "summer" to "liqiu" stage, when it reaches the height of summer, the weather is hot, and people eat it with a feeling of spleen and stomach. Once the pear is on the market, they rush to buy it, and it is fast to taste it first. Green peel pear skin is thin and thick, juicy heart, sweet and sour, containing a variety of nutritional compounds, sugar, vitamins and other substances, is one of the more nutritious fruits. Zheng Yongrong, a member of the village committee of Fengmei Village, introduced to us the production method of preserved pears: when the "summer" of the year is over and "LiQiu", the Zoutang pears are ripe, the pears are plucked, washed with water, cut open, and then cut one side down, and the skin is cut into small thin slices with a thickness of 2 to 3 mm in turn, and these small slices are placed on a clean sundeck or a clean bamboo vessel to be sunburned until they are crisp and broken. Seal it with a clay pot for half a month, then take it out and put it on the cooker to boil on the stove, wait until 15 to 20 minutes after the cooking smoke on the top of the cooker is raised, then take it out to dry, put it back into the bamboo ware in the sun until the pear dry humidity disappears, and then seal it with a clay pot, put it for a month and then take it out to boil. Repeat this 3 times. The prepared pears are placed in a clay pot and sealed for consumption. Every year during the Dragon Boat Festival or Chongyang Festival, Zoutang people will take out their own pears to boil and dry, and the longer the pears are stored, the better.
Zoutang pear is a kind of folk gifts, especially overseas Chinese, because the pear in Southeast Asia enjoys the reputation of "Chaoshan native antelope", they must bring some to the overseas Chinese settlement every time they return to their hometown to give away the villagers, and share the native products of their hometown. Mention the origin of the name "Chaoshan Tu antelope", there is also a small story: according to legend, at the end of the Qing Dynasty, a fever epidemic in Siam, the patient's body temperature is extremely high, the throat is dry and thirsty, and the irritability is incomparable. Due to poor medical conditions and the hardships of the Chinese living here, the economy was in a slump and it was impossible to seek medical treatment. It just so happened that there was a Chen surname Ketou returning to Siam from Chaoshan with a bag of Zou Tang green skin pear breast, seeing that his wife was also ill, had sought medical treatment, but the condition did not improve, Chen Ketou used pears at the home of Zou Tang's friends, knowing that it had the effect of dissolving heat poison, so he cooked a bowl for his wife to drink, and after one or two hours, his wife felt that the internal heat subsided, and the mouth was born. So after drinking for two or three consecutive days, the fever was gone. Chen Ketou is a warm-hearted person, the dried pears were distributed to the surrounding neighbors, boiled water to drink, cured one side of the hundreds of patients, the neighbor Hasichi Langzhong felt strange, asked Chen Ketou what magic method, Chen Ketou said that it was cured with "Chaoshan tu antelope", since then, Zoutang green skin dried pear has been called "Chaoshan tulange" by overseas Chinese.
