BYD: The epidemic in Xi'an has an impact on production and is actively coordinating the response

The epidemic in Xi'an has had a certain impact on the production of car companies.

On December 24, BYD responded to the surging news that the epidemic had some impact on the production of the Xi'an park and was actively coordinating the response.

According to the website of the Shaanxi Provincial Health Commission, at 0-24:00 on December 23, 52 new locally confirmed cases were reported in Shaanxi. Since 9 December, the province has reported a cumulative total of 264 locally confirmed cases (255 in Xi'an, 5 in Yan'an and 4 in Xianyang).

Xi'an has previously announced that since December 23, it has comprehensively strengthened control measures: the city's communities and units have implemented closed management.

It is reported that the Xi'an production base is one of BYD's most important production bases, shouldering the production of popular models such as Qin PLUS DM-i hybrid and Song PLUS DM-i hybrid. According to the website of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, the planned annual production capacity of the first and second phases of BYD's Xi'an production base is 300,000 units, that is, BYD has an annual production capacity of 600,000 vehicles in Xi'an.

In November, Wang Changfu, chairman of BYD Group, revealed that bysa's DM-i platform models were in short supply, with orders in hand as high as 200,000 at the time, and the delivery period of DM-i platform models had been as long as 4 months. It is widely believed that the current round of xi'an epidemic may lead to another delay in the delivery of BYD's popular models.

In 2003, BYD acquired Xi'an Qinchuan Automobile Co., Ltd., on the basis of which it established a production base in Xi'an, and successively laid out a number of business segments such as passenger cars, commercial vehicles, rail transit, and power batteries. The Xi'an production base is also the most complete production base of BYD's industrial chain in addition to the Shenzhen headquarters.

On December 5, BYD Xi'an New Energy Auto Parts Project Industrial Park also officially started, which is another son of BYD in Xi'an. The project is expected to invest 15 billion yuan, mainly to build electric assembly factories, motor factories, electronic control factories, brake factories and other core components of new energy vehicles production plants, the construction of high-speed test tracks for BYD Xi'an R & D center, etc., the project will achieve an annual output value of about 70 billion yuan after production.

According to Shaanxi Radio and Television Station, as of October 2021, BYD has invested a total of 31.5 billion yuan in Shaanxi, achieved a total industrial output value of 384.1 billion yuan, paid taxes of 13.1 billion yuan, and solved employment of more than 60,000 people. Xi'an has become the city with the highest quality of development and the most complete layout industry of BYD, following the shenzhen headquarters. From 2022 to 2023, BYD's target output value in Xi'an is expected to exceed 100 billion.

According to the Association, BYD sold 90,142 new energy vehicles in November 2021, the first sales volume of new energy manufacturers.
