Modern society hides self-oppression, and lying flat is actually a kind of say no resistance

When tired and unable to sleep, but turned to this "Tired Society", Han Bingzhe's writing is more intuitive than philosophical in many cases. If Foucault and Marcuse's thinking is a rejection of modernity that treats people as crops, then Han Bingzhe's intuition is a rejection of postmodernity, which seems to give people great freedom.

The language of his philosophy actually hides a question that all modern people face, that is, why modern people are so tired.

If in the era of large-scale industry, it is difficult for workers to breathe under the cold machines and management systems, then in the post-industrial era, in the era of increasing belief in individuality, freedom, and diversity, people are also exhausted by self-driven, self-exploitative ambitions. Compared with the "tool people" who were squeezed dry by various "you should" in the industrial era, although modern people are free from the oppression of others, they are exhausted under self-management and under various "I can" self-motivation.

Because of this, in the large-scale industrial age, the human spirit shows a general mania because it is oppressed by objectivity, while in the post-industrial age, the human spirit shows general depression due to constant persecution by self-motivation. Therefore, burnout has become the greatest common language between people in this highly fragmented world. It went from being negative in the traditional sense to being a rejection of excessive self-motivation in a weirdly positive sense.

This made me re-examine the meaning of lying flat, that is, lying flat is not to give up, but to the social say no right of the meritorious society that constantly self-exploits and self-oppression. When man becomes his master, he treats himself with unprecedented cruelty, so self-abandonment also has the meaning of resistance.

What a strange, obscure, but terrifyingly intuitive pamphlet. Before I knew it, it was already dawn.
