After the main force of the Central Red Army set out on the Long March, the guerrillas who remained in the Hekeng District of Xijiang County, under the leadership of their captain Zhu Guisheng, waged an arduous guerrilla struggle with the Kuomintang troops and the landlords and the Communist Regiment. In order to facilitate the movement, the whole team went lightly. Nothing but the soldier's attire and the red flag of the troops are not carried. The red flag is always kept by Captain Zhu.
In the winter of 1934, in an encounter, the guerrillas were scattered, and Captain Zhu was seriously injured and his life was in danger. And the deputy platoon leader Peng Duochun, who broke out together, also hung up the lottery. As the enemy's pursuit approached, At this extremely critical juncture, Zhu Guisheng handed over this blood-stained red flag to Peng Duochun and said with difficulty: "Comrade Duochun, please keep this red flag and give it to the organization when the revolution is victorious..." "No, Captain Zhu, we must climb out as well." Peng Duochun said with tears in his eyes that he would not abandon the captain. "Comrade Duochun, I order you to fight out and protect the red flag. If we fight together, we can only destroy people. "Captain, I resolutely obey the order, please rest assured, there is a red flag in my Peng Duochun."
Peng Duochun bid farewell to the dying captain and hid in the deep mountains and dense forests for two days with the red flag before returning to his hometown of Pengwu in Xijiang. That night, together with his mother, he found thick oil paper and tied the red flag firmly and carefully hid it under the gray liao tile corner. They firmly believe that the revolution will succeed and the Red Army will fight back... Then, Peng Duochun said goodbye to his mother and left for a long time.
When the enemy did not catch Peng Duochun, he ransacked his home, looted his property, and tortured his mother to hand over the belongings left behind by the "Red Bandit" son and the guerrillas. The old man kept his mouth shut, neither telling where his son was going nor handing over the hidden red flag. As a result, the old man was beaten to the head and bleeding and scaly wounds all over his body.
Winter came and spring came, and the red flag bag lay quietly under the gray liao tile corner for fifteen spring and autumn, safe and sound. After the liberation of the whole country, Peng Duochun, who had been making a living in other places for more than a decade, returned to his hometown in the spring of 1950. The first thing he did when he arrived at his hometown was to go under the gray liao tile corner and take out the wrapped red flag. In March of the same year, the party and the government began to collect revolutionary cultural relics, and Peng Duochun, dressed in neat clothes, washed his hands and face, and respectfully handed the red flag to the district party committee like a happy event, expressing the incomparable cherishing of the party for the Red Army by a guerrilla in the Soviet district.
