Crouch on Arsenal: Not surprising that Ramsdale played discipline issues cannot be tolerated

Former England international Crouch spoke in a column for the Daily Mail about his views on Arsenal.

Here's what Crouch's column says:

Now Arsenal are moving towards their long-held blueprint. Now it's starting to feel strategic, as a club Arsenal wouldn't have discussed that before. Arteta's idea was to drastically reduce the average age of the squad, adding a sense of hunger to the players who could see the future under him.

With an average age of 24, Arsenal are the youngest in the Premier League. The average age of the squad against Leeds United is 22 years old, and only one of arsenal's 18 goals recently scored has been scored by players older than 23 years old, and that is Lacazette's goal against Southampton. When you make a rebuild like this, the head coach takes time. The team is young, look at some of the young players they signed, Ramsdale (23), Ben White (24), Tierney (24). They've been part of a regular starter in the backcourt in the last three wins, and they look like they can be leaders.

Martinelli is clearly a superstar. Let's see where the 20-year-old can go without injury issues. He can be everything he wants, like flexible foot technique, calmness in front of shots, speed and underrated power. His second goal against Leeds United impressed me very much. He was fouled when he burst into the penalty area and he had the consciousness to stand up. This kind of calm is very difficult to do, and believe me, that's what this signing really means.

Did Ramsdale surprise me? He didn't. Some of the players may have attracted me, but he was a good signing. Two full Premier League seasons, at his age, not many young goalkeepers can get such opportunities. Compared to his achievements at Bournemouth and Sheffield United, this is evidence of his talent. Ben White is growing, Gabriel is being himself, and I love Tierney. As a fan, you'll always want Tierney. He has a left-back all and he is the team's future captain.

I don't know the details of Aubameyang's situation, but if you're the club captain, you should have a better attitude than the other players. Everyone is looking for you to do it. Aubameyang is obviously a player who can play in the dressing room, but I will tell Arteta that disciplinary issues cannot be tolerated. Lacazette looks to train very hard and the manager will love that reaction, playing the role of an older player. I like the way he gives. That's important because the leadership problem is arsenal's old problem. We all know that.
