On December 21, Qingting Network reported that open source VR hardware is rarely heard of at present, and this time it really came to such a headset. In October, Qingting Network reported that SOMnium Space, a VR social platform (in fact, the main blockchain game), will cooperate with VRgineers to develop a VR all-in-one machine.
At the Somnium Space Connect (the name began to imitate the Oculus Connect event series) event, part of the product appearance and part of the details were officially announced.

First of all, the appearance part, the whole headset is a geek style design, structure and buttons are very rich, just like the early DIY era is thinking about preparing for future upgrades.
About hardware specifications: Snapdragon XR2, 8GB LPDDR5+512GB UFS 3.1 storage, Wi-Fi 6E, two 3.2-inch 2880×2880 LCD screens, 90Hz (optional 120Hz) refresh rate, optional Micro OLED version.
In terms of positioning, Inside-Out 6DoF four-eye tracking also supports Exterior-In laser positioning schemes.
Other aspects include XTAL-based lenses, native wireless PC VR mode, and native SteamVR support.
However, as of now, everything is still paper data, as for the specific product release time and price has not yet been determined, it is only determined that the first batch of products will be shipped in the fourth quarter of 2022.
In addition, there is no clear view on the hardware cooperation company VRgineers, the latter's original enterprise-level VR headset XTAL has not yet had a clear view on the market performance so far, but it is clear that the heat of the past two years has not been as active as another Varjo.
From the design point of view, I guess the price of the basic version will not be low, which is different from the current Quest 2 series of cost-effective strategies, and the important content ecology has not yet, if only rely on the PC content competitiveness will be greatly reduced. Moreover, Valve's own VR all-in-one machine is also on the string, and I don't know what the ultimate purpose of Somnium Space is.
For VRgineers and Somnium Space VR all-in-ones, please continue to follow up on Qingting.com.
