Guo Mingxi: The iPhone 14 will be replaced by a 48-megapixel main camera

On December 21, according to the brokerage analysis report seen by AppleInsider, Guo Mingxi predicted that the iPhone 14 camera will be equipped with a 48-megapixel sensor. He predicted that the change will help improve the financial situation of camera component supplier Dali Optoelectronics.

This isn't Kuo's first prediction for a 48-megapixel sensor, which he said in a Report in April that it will come out in 2022. A large 1/1.3-inch sensor for wide-angle lenses may offer a mixed image mode and support 8K video recording. That said, that doesn't mean that all the photos taken by the iPhone will be 48 megapixels. The camera is also expected to use pixel binning to improve color accuracy and low-light performance, and multi-pixel compositing for low-light photos to improve image quality. Samsung's Galaxy S21 already uses this technology.

In addition, Guo Mingxi predicts that the periscope or folding lens can be used for the iPhone that debuts in 2023.

Periscope lenses use complex prism and mirror arrangements to create a longer path for light to pass through the lens assembly, enabling a wider range of optical zoom than traditional lenses. Apple holds several patents on related lens systems.
