Xie Jieshi: I urge everyone to slow down
Stop and enjoy the scenery on the road

Xie Jieshi, secretary of the president of Manjinghua Group, delivered a speech on behalf of the organizers, introducing that "M LIFE" is a fully public-oriented urban humanities journal published by Manjinghua Group, and also a platform for Manjinghua to continue to explore and deepen the sharing of urban culture.
Since the first issue was issued last year, it is the third issue that we have met with you, and this time we have focused on the public issue that must be paid attention to in the current life of the whole people.
1. An exploration of an unknown life
In the post-pandemic era, the more feasible and more achievable personalized travel methods have become less arbitrary, but the desire in our hearts to explore unknown life experiences and expand the boundaries of life has become stronger.
How do we look at mobility again? How to balance the state of "the body is not moving, the heart is far away"? It is the question that M LIFE tries to explore and answer on the road, and it is also the source of this sharing meeting.
2. The true meaning of "on the road"
Xie Jieshi shared his understanding of "on the road", he said,
"We are talking about the road, by no means the morning rush of Monday, everyone is rubbing shoulders and hurrying; it is not the last subway at night, drowsy, the night is hazy; it is not lying on the bed before going to bed to brush short videos, using tens of seconds of mental fast food to soothe our tired nerves and hearts.
The pursuit of efficiency in modern society seems to make everyone rush to cross the process and reach the goal. As a result, we can't afford to stop and enjoy the roadside scenery, lose the patience of the experience process itself, and even bury the ability to chew and taste the text. Our bodies and minds are too tired to have one on the way. One wonders, "Does this exhaustive urban life really make sense?" ”
It is in this context that Man Jinghua regains the traditional print medium of magazines and calls on everyone to slow down and stop to enjoy the scenery on the road. I believe that the touch of paper, the fragrance of ink, the process of reading, and the sense of acquisition after closing the book have irreplaceable value in themselves.

Yan Lijun: "Signboards and Cities"
At the sharing meeting, Yan Lijun, Ph.D. in Sociology of the University of Hong Kong, brought a keynote speech "Signboards and Cities".
From the perspective of a city walker, she keenly started from the most important symbol signs in the urban landscape, bringing the different sign styles of Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hong Kong to the audience.
In her view, signs are tools for conveying meaning, devices for creating atmosphere, and records of the city's history.

In her sharing, the audience felt the diversity of Shenzhen's immigrant city revealed by the signboard, and also experienced the commercial prosperity behind Hong Kong's "signature forest" and the "Cantonese + Hong Kong-style" style behind the Guangzhou signboard.
