Japan's MORIRIN company is preparing to apply the new indigo dyeing technology to TENCEL Modal

author:Textile engineer

MORIRIN is a Japanese textile company founded in 1662 and has a history of 360 years. At its inception, the company focused primarily on the sale of cotton products. But with the expansion of the scale, the business has involved all kinds of textiles. MORIRIN attaches great importance to innovation, and now they have developed a new indigo fiber, TENCEL Modal, and named it AQUARAIZ.

The traditional indigo color is formed by dyeing yarn. At present, this indigo color is added to the indigo dye when the Modal fiber becomes a liquid state. So when the liquid becomes a fibrous state, indigo is already firmly present in the fibers. Compared with traditional dyeing methods, this dyeing method is more water-saving and energy-saving, and also reduces the use of chemical additives.

Under the current trend of protecting the global environment, such technology can highlight its unique value. "We studied the previous routine indigo dyeing process, which is very damaging and polluting to the environment. With our new dyeing method, carbon emissions can be significantly reduced. Says Masato Sasaki, who is the business manager at MORIRIN.

Direct fiber dyeing, you can fix the indigo color in the internal structure of the fiber, and yarn dyeing, many colors just float on the surface, so the fiber dyeing indigo blue, color fastness is better. Jeans made of this indigo Tencel Modal are not easy to fade. And during the wearing or washing process, it will not easily fade to other clothes.

On August 24, MORIRIN launched a crowdfunding campaign for this new fiber, AQUARAIZ. Anyone who is interested in the project can invest, and the deadline for accepting crowdfunding investment is October 30. At the beginning of January 2022, each crowdfunding participant will also receive a pair of jeans made from AQUARZIA ingredients. It seems that MORIRIN wants to control the entire textile and garment industry chain, from spinning, weaving, sewing, washing and finally garments.
