Team Development On June 6, 1996, Changchun Yatai Football Club was officially established, which was founded by Jilin Yatai (Group) Co., Ltd. with an injection of 10 million yuan. The club's first head coach was Li Xuchuan, the chairman was Song Shanglong, president of Yatai Group Co., Ltd., and the consultant was Nian Weisi, former president of the Chinese Football Association.
In 1997, Changchun Yatai participated in the National Football League B. After three consecutive failed attempts against A B in 1997-1999, Changchun Yatai merged with Bayi Super Energy in 2000 to form Changchun Yatai Lions to compete in the 2000 A B League and finished fifth in the A B League.
