How has street culture taken the world by storm? An exhibition can unravel the mystery. From December 17, 2021 to March 20, 2022, the International Trend Culture Exhibition with the theme of "Trend, From Subversion" was held at SKP-S, as the first domestic exhibition of its kind, telling the story of how streetwear and culture gradually moved from the streets of London, New York and Tokyo to the world and swept the world.
In the T-10 cultural and artistic space on the 4th floor of SKP-S, the ultra-large-scale international trend culture exhibition covering an area of 4,000 square meters has attracted many trend lovers. The exhibition presents three stages of evolution and development of street trend culture in three exhibition areas, namely "the first appearance", "vigorous development" and "today". Through a multi-faceted understanding of the origin and development of street culture, the audience can feel the creativity and novel design condensed by trend culture, and have more creative thinking about Chinese street culture.
Walking through the progress zone, the first to attract attention is the "First Appearance" theme area, which shows the 1982-2005, the streets as a concentration of music, art, multiculturalism and fashion through 8 venues, while integrating these cultures with each other, bringing a new cultural force. These include graffiti theme area, skateboard theme area, art theme area, hip-hop theme area and so on.
In the ensuing "Booming" themed area, viewers can feel that the development of street culture is a chain reaction. The scene revolves around four major themes: silhouettes, art, social media and toys, showcasing the creations of industry pioneers.
The last theme area of the exhibition is "To this day". It's a journey through the timeline that showcases contemporary brands and creative individuals.
It is worth mentioning that the exhibition site also set up a dynamic multi-functional leisure space, where the audience can experience the leisure and relaxation of the street community in such a space that looks like a basketball court. In addition, there is a new creative space "THE DROP", which combines street culture and concept retail, which will bring different brands to sale and offline activities during the exhibition. In addition to the indoor exhibitions, there are also works of art on display in the square outside the SKP-S gate for a limited time.
The exhibition will last for 3 months and will be free of charge from 10:00 to 22:00 every day at the T-10 Cultural And Arts Space on the 4th floor of SKP-S.
